Set in a country park, surrounded by lakes and woodland, this site offers fishing, a children’s farm and playground, plus it’s a haven for wildlife. The site has grass and hardstanding pitches, hook-up, a washblock, launderette and Wi-Fi access.

Why it’s great

Kingsbury doesn’t have a dedicated rally field but the staff always do their best to group rally units together. Discounts are offered to official organisations and group bookings can attract a saving of £7 per person per night for non-members. Elm Cottage Touring Park, Cheshire

Sat 12 miles from the historic city of Chester and just 400 yards from the nearest pub, Elm Cottage has plenty of attractions in the surrounding area. The main area of the Practical Caravan Top 100 site is a two-acre marked touring area which is open all year. On top of that is a generous 6.5 acre rally field which is big enough to cope with most caravan rallies. If you don't like roughing it while on a rally, the modern refurbished toilet block and wi-fi covering the entire site will doubtless delight you.

Why it’s great

A rally field is one thing that makes a great rally venue, but the rally barn at Elm Cottage keeps groups coming back year after year. The biggest issue will be finding an available slot. With over 30 events a season already running on site, better have a couple of dates in mind before you call. 

Ferry Meadows, Cambridgeshire

This site’s country park location has steam trains, a fishing lake, cycle and walking trails, golf courses and a water sports centre. The site has level grass and hardstanding pitches, washblocks, launderette and Wi-Fi.

Why it’s great

The rally field is open March-September with space for 30 units. The fee is £7 per night per caravan. There is no hook-up or use of the site’s facilities and the usual Caravan Club site rules apply. Flash your member’s card for a 50% discount to ride on the Nene Valley Railway within the park.

Stowford Farm Meadows, North Devon

Set in stunning Devon countryside, Stowford has facilities galore. They include five modern washblocks, launderette, family pub, supermarket, repair centre and accessory shop. An indoor pool, crazy golf, recreation field, horse riding, a petting zoo and woodland walks provide the fun.

Why it’s great

Stowford Farm is host to Practical Caravan’s reader rally this spring. The dedicated rally field has 60 grass pitches with hook-up, and other areas can be made available during busy periods. Ralliers have access to all the site facilities. Get a price for your rally by calling Stowford direct.

Roundhill Caravan Park and Campsite, Hampshire

Open heath and woodland surround this site set in the heart of the New Forest. Ponies and cattle roam freely and you may even catch them taking a dip in the small site pond. There are great walks within the forest, while the beach at Lymington and Beaulieu are both close by. There is a washblock but the site has no hook-up or hardstanding pitches.

Why it’s great

Roundhill has a dedicated rally field with 80 grass pitches without hook-up. They welcome rally groups of 10 or more units and bookings can attract a discount depending on the size of the party. For more information contact the rally coordinator on 01283 228 616.

Applewood Camping and Caravan Park, Norfolk

Applewood is set in 13 acres of parkland, next door to Banham Zoo. The site is ideally placed to explore the Norfolk and Suffolk coast. Facilities include modern washrooms, launderette and hook-up.

Why it’s great

Applewood has two rally fields – one has space for 49 units with hook-up, the second is a 21-acre field without power. For visits to the zoo, site guests pay once and get unlimited access for the duration of their stay. Contact the site direct for rally bookings.
