Blockhaus 2nd World War bunker in Eperleques. Beach - 30km, golf course and horseriding. Fishing, sailing and windsurfing (own equipment required). Nausicaa sea-life centre about 55km and shops and hypermarkets in Calais and Boulogne.

A region of gentle undulating verdant countryside, easily accessible from the Channel ports and Tunnel, which offers an ideal destination for both short breaks and longer stays. It is home to a wealth of beautiful Gothic cathedrals, including the largest one in France at Amiens, and the famous one in Reims, renowned for its beautiful architecture. There are also several excellent golf courses and shopping centres to attract the British visitor. The unique floating vegetable garden on the Somme river is another of Amien's attractions along with the nearby 1st World War battlefields of the Somme and the medieval battlegrounds of Agincourt and Crécy. Other places worth a detour include the important ornothological reserve at Marquenterre, the fashionable resort of Le Touquet and Nausicaa Europe's largest sea-life centre in Boulogne.

Owner's description

A 30-minute drive from the Eurotunnel terminal and cross-channel ports, this is a quiet family-run site with a distinctly French ambience. Situated in the wooded grounds of a small 19th century château, Château de Gandspette, the site offers mainly grassy, well-defined pitches, some with shade. There is an attractive heated pool and a delightful wooden-beamed restaurant. Bread is available each morning and there is a supermarket in the village 1km away. An excellent children’s play area keeps the little ones happy and a limited programme of entertainment is offered in the high season. It makes an ideal stopover and is a good spot for longer stays. Not only is it surrounded by the Audomarois National Park with its walking and biking trails but Flanders and the attractive coastline of the Pas-de-Calais are also within easy reach. One tour operator present.
