This is the perfect campsite for a family who are looking for a weekend away with friends or on their own. Situated in the heart of Thetford Forest at least a 5 minute walk away from any major roads, with a reasonably new play park and a clean, but cold pool. I have been to this campsite on numerous occasions with my friends and family and have had a brilliant time. The site also has its very own bar so there's no need to treck to the nearest town just to have a drink. Also, i'll warn you now, you will not see your children all weekend, they will be climbing trees, building dens, swimming in the pool or playing football on the green.Just what kids are supposed to be doing. A must do.

Are you are looking for peace and quiet without feeling as if you’re cut off from civilisation? Then this is the site for you. Set amid 20 acres of grassland, the Dower House Touring Park provides all the tranquillity you need to recharge your batteries, yet it’s conveniently close to all the amenities of the Norfolk coast.
The forest surrounding the site is home to lots of birds and wildlife: keep your eyes peeled as you walk and cycle around the edges of the site and through the woods. In autumn, you can even roast sweet chestnuts, fresh from the trees around the site.
Children are well catered for here with sturdy play apparatus and a swimming pool, all sited away from the caravan pitches. There is also a television room for those that do not have their own set, while the on-site bar provides tasty meals to eat in or to take away. Touches such as a mobile phone charging service and a freezer for the use of all caravanners demonstrate that this site is a cut above average. Disabled facilities are very good, and five pitches have been specially arranged for the use of the disabled.
There are occasional themed weekends with music and dancing, but the site’s layout means that you won’t be disturbed even if you want
an early night.

Practical Motorhome Independent Site Reviews.
This peaceful site, set in 20 acres of grassland, is centred on the Dower House, which is occupied by the owners David and Karin Bussell, who have concentrated on large, good quality pitches rather than quantity. The forest surroundings provide plenty of birds and wildlife, seen from the tracks around the edges of the site and through the woods.
Dogs are welcome but some breeds may need to be muzzled: ring ahead to check.
Children are well catered for, with good play areas and swimming facilities sited away from the caravan pitches. There is a television room for those that do not have their own sets or who want channels other than the choice available in their motorhome.
You'll find more good facilities on site, including a bar which provides meals to take-away or to eat inside. In season, you can even roast chestnuts, fresh from the forest around the site.
There are five pitches specially arranged for the disabled. These, and touches such as a mobile phone battery charging service and a freezer for all to use, make for a relaxed and friendly site. That is not to say that it is too quiet; there are occasional theme-based weekends, with dancing – but their noise does not disturb campers wishing to get an early night.
There is much to do in the surrounding area: motor and motorcycle racing at nearby Snettisham, boating on the Broads and the Norfolk coast, with delights for seafood lovers.
This site is not really off the beaten track, and all the better for it, as so much is within easy reach. The Dower House does not try to be all things to all people; it does not need to – its friendly and helpful staff, its setting and the surrounding area make it a great base for an extended stay.

This is a very peaceful site, set in 20 grassy acres of land. Owners David and Karin Bussell have concentrated on providing large quality pitches, rather than just packing them in. The forest surroundings are a haven for wildlife, and many birds and animals can be seen from the walks and cycle tracks that wind around the edges of the site and through the woods.
Children are well catered for here, with a play area filled with sturdy apparatus and indoor and outdoor swimming pools; all of which are located well away from the pitches. Dogs are welcome but some breeds might need to be muzzled: ring ahead to check with the site.
There is a TV room for those who do not have their own sets, while other good quality facilities include a restaurant and a bar that serves take-away food.
There are five pitches that have been designed to meet the needs of disabled guests. This is just one example of how the site owners are really prepared to go the extra mile. Other nice touches include a freezer service and a mobile phone battery-charging service.
You won’t be at a loss for things to do either on-site or off. The Dower House arranges occasional themed weekends with dancing, well in the immediate vicinity there is motorcycle racing at Snettisham and boating on the Norfolk Broads. You would not describe this site as being off the beaten track and it’s all the better for it, since it means that so much is within easy reach.
