Practical Caravan Great Escapes recommended park Awards Issue 2006
Whitby can be a tricky place to park the car, but if you stay at Whitby Touring Park, you can make the bracing clifftop walk into the town and avoid the hassle. The site itself also sits on the cliff, which provides amazing views out to sea and makes this a wonderful setting for a relaxing break.
The site has its own shop, café and clubhouse. The pitches are all grass and are completely flat, despite some terracing.
There is a single washblock, which is large and very well maintained, but it is likely to get very busy in high season. The biggest downsides are that the exposed location can lead to blustery weather and, in the summer months, as with many seaside sites offering good-quality facilities, it can get very busy. Please note that Hobby caravans are only permitted by prior arrangement.
