Situated between the stunning Galloway Forest Park and the town of Castle Douglas, Loch Ken Holiday Park is the perfect location for anyone looking to experience the Scottish Borders and surrounding areas with their whole family. This quiet caravan park is open from March to November, and is open to those with motorhomes, although tent pitches are the most widely available and popular. The park also offers a small number of holiday homes for hire, while there are others available to buy for those who visit the area and fall in love with Loch Ken.
The park is close to the RSPB Ken-Dee Marshes bird reservation, however the jewel in the crown is definitely Galloway Forest Park. Galloway offers over 300 square miles of amazing scenery, from dense woodland to heather covered hills and rolling countryside. Walking the park is a great experience, although mountain bike hire is available for those fit enough and who wish to take in the area at a faster pace.
Within Loch Ken Holiday Park, travellers can enjoy a range of activities, particularly those that take place on Loch Ken itself, such as fishing and sailing. There is a leading water-ski and wakeboard training centre situated close-by, too, so those with a sense of adventure can learn a new skill during their stay.
The Galloway Activity Centre, in addition, offers activities such as kayaking, archery, orienteering, outdoor laser quest, and climbing.
During peak season, the park runs a number of children’s clubs so that if adults want to take in a round of golf or enjoy a spot of uninterrupted fishing, they are able to do so. The surrounding area is home to a number of inspirational archaeological sites, as well as museums and open farms for the whole family to explore.
Ken Loch also houses a grocery store, so those looking to stay on site throughout their stay are able to buy their essentials quickly and easily.
