Glen Trothy Caravan Park is a quiet and tranquil park in the picturesque setting of the Welsh countryside, sitting in a great location on the edge of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, while also being a short distance away from the sprawling Brecon Beacons National Park in the heart of Wales.

The site takes its name from the River Trothy, which runs along the boundary of the park. There is over 100 pitches in total, with fully serviced pitches available for caravans, while there is shared electricity and water hook ups for those with tents.

Glen Trothy is a family friendly holiday park, and in addition to the acres of wide open spaces for the kids to explore, there is an excellent adventure playground with apparatus and activates suitable for youngsters of all ages. There are opportunities to indulge in fishing and golf in the local area, while there are a number of excellent walking routes headed into further countryside or into more wooded areas.

This caravan park is in a great location for exploring the brilliant places across the whole of south and central Wales. This park has had new owners now for several years, and its a delight to stay on. Shower block has been rebuilt, good roads put in and a beautiful new play area for the children, large pitches, and plenty of room to sit and enjoy life, and the owners and Manager do their utmost to give everyone a peaceful stay - its a family site, pets and children warmly welcomed so they do expect their visitors to respect the rules, especially at night, but the attitude is one of consideration. A mix of seasonal vans on well kept pitches, tourers and campers, nicely placed in an area with lots on offer.

Abusive and threatening to us, just for enquiring about camping on the site, it was shocking, upsetting and so unexpected it was very strange. The man should not be providing a service to the general public. You can't see the information signs from the road that say no dogs, despite this they did not like that we pulled into the site and then had to turn around. Stay well clear!

having stayed for 3 nights at this site i must say how impressed we were by the site , it was immaculatly kept and yes we were told the rules of the site on the phone when booking and once we arrived, which to us was not a problem  in fact it was a refreshing change.although just myself and my partner went on this occasion we have 8 grandchildren and we will definatly take them with us [in turns of course]it is such a safe enviroment for them and us, a lovely little play area with picnic tables for you to sit and enjoy watching the children play.it is very much a pleasure when a campsite enforces the rules and not just display them.merle did walk around the site regually but this was to show people their pitches ect she always took time for a chat even sitting and having a coffee with us she was on her way back from the tent field having taken a camper some gaviscon .now how helpful is that .well done horace and merle keep enforcing the rules and keep the riff raff away.

Having stayed at numerous caravan parks in Wales my partner and I found Glen Trothy to be a refreshing change. Not only were the owners pleasantly welcoming (bearing in mind we turned up at late on a Friday night), the site was also very clean with excellent facilities.

Although there were rules to be adhered to, these were no more stringent than other parks that we have visited. We only intended to stay two nights before moving on to another site, however we ended up staying five nights as Monmouth is a beautiful area.

All in all, if we are ever in the area again we will definately stay at Glen Trothy.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we had nothing but attitude of the owner. As we arrived with 2 cars we asked if one could come on and of load then be moved and that was approved by the lady owner. When we arrived it was in the middle of a thunderstorm and there was no way we could set up the tent. Within half an hour of being there they were over telling us to move it??? As we set up the tent in the drizzle we erected a pop up gazebo between ours and our friends tent for the chiuldren to stand under, within seconds they were back telling us to move it(i swear they had binoculars on us from reception) the tent opposite had one up but that was ok????? The owner was a complete nightmare and had one of our party in tears by the end of the weekend which i find absolutely disgusting who has the god help given right to speak to you like that??? I would never ever stay at this site again and i would advise anyone who,s looking at this site to give it a wide berth unless you want the holiday from bad!!!!!!!! Oh yes and one more thing dont,t take children with you because they are not aloud to play without them complaining lol!!!!!!!

We have just returned from this site. As caravanners of 24 yrs, we have NEVER come across such horrible owners. The way they spoke to me and my wife in front of our children is not acceptable. As there were several of us, we had mixed up our barrier cards(an easy mistake)as we regularly shared transport. He claimed we were being dishonest and even prevented us from using our card! One other card belonging to another group member was canceled halfway through the break without even telling them! On leaving we had to stop and wait for him to open the barrier as he had taken our refundable card off us, he aggressively asked what we were doing by the main and only toilet block with our caravan. As the weather conditions were horrendous, I told him that I had been emptying my toilet. He told me in no polite terms that I had no right to be there (funny I was under the impression that I had paid to use theses facilities!)He EVENTUALLY let us leave but as I followed for my refundable £10 card deposit, he shut the door and locked it telling me that as we had deliberately misused our barrier cards, there was no way I was getting any money!!! However as I "calmly" waited, he ranted and raved that I could wait all day and still not get it.
Eventually I spoke to the woman of the site(Who was quite pleasant) she sneaked my deposit to me, asking me not to tell him. Some way to run a site!
There was no way I was leaving until he had seen me with my deposit. I calmly waved it to him, there was no way I would let him think he had got away with it, thanked him, and drove off.
