Border Forest Caravan Park is a four star holiday park found within the beautiful Northumberland National Park. Open all year, this small, family run site welcomes guests with caravans, campervans, motorhomes, and tents, as well as having a camping pod, four lodges, and two cottages available for hire. From time to time the park may also have static holiday caravans for sale, depending on availability and demand. Buying a holiday caravan would be perfect for anyone who falls in love with this area of Britain and would like to make Border Forest Caravan Park their regular holiday retreat.

The park is pet friendly, with electric hook-ups available for guests bringing their own accommodation, while a laundrette and amenities block are also available. LPG is stocked on the site, too, while many of the pitches, as well as the lodges and cottages, benefit from their own private parking spaces.

The park has excellent access and is level, which is a boon for wheelchair users. There are two caravan/tent pitches next to the disabled toilet and shower facilities (all included) and there is a fridge and washing up facilities for all to use. Please note that Border Forest Caravan Park has no shop or restaurant on site.

The site sits on the edge of the charming Kielder Forest Park, and is a short distance away from the Scottish border. Guests looking to explore the beauty of the region will find plenty of opportunities to do so. Visit Hadrian’s Wall, which is close by and visit the Scottish Borders region, which is always popular with visitors to Border Forest Caravan Park (read our Caravan Sitefinder blog about Hadrian's Wall here – https://www.caravansitefinder.co.uk/blog/hadrians-wall-of-fame). For seaside holidays and coastal walks, you will be able to discover the Northumberland Heritage Coastline, which is just a short distance away. This is an area filled with great beaches as well as historic towns and villages, along with Roman ruins. There is also the option of taking the unique drive across the North Sea to Lindisfarne – just remember to check the tide times before you set off!

Border Forest Caravan Park is the perfect family holiday destination for those who love the outdoors and walking holidays in the Scottish Borders. Walk the Pennine Way from here, because this famous walking route can be picked up a short distance from the park, which offers plenty of chances for walking, cycling, horse riding, or simply finding a spot to relax and enjoy a picnic, a spell of bird watching, or a tranquil day appreciating the surroundings.

If you enjoy using your caravan for fishing holidays, this campsite makes a good base. There are several streams and rivers that run through the National Park and close to the site, so keen anglers can enjoy trying plenty of spots from which to go fishing.

Guests can also tread off the beaten path and discover much of Northumberland National Park for themselves, with miles of countryside, rolling hills, and farmland open for exploration. Many areas are great for ball games and other activities. Tourists looking for water based activities will enjoy themselves at Kielder Water, found in the heart of the Forest Park, which offers sailing and canoeing, among other activities.

Many also take the opportunity to explore the major towns and cities that are within reach of the site, as well as the famous villages and smaller market towns that are found across north England and throughout the Scottish Borders. Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital and home to one of the best zoos in the United Kingdom, can be driven to on the A68 road, while Carlisle and Newcastle-upon-Tyne are also easy to get to, and are wonderful places to spend the day.

Whether looking for a short family break or a place to own a permanent holiday home, Border Forest Caravan Park is a wonderful holiday destination.

There have been some changes recently with the addition of the small toilet block in the middle of the caravan field with wash up area and fridge/freezer,

There are even books and DVDs on a shelf, fortunately this does cut the walk from the camping field by 150m and is kept very clean, however it’s not for the shy as it is total mixed toilet block with little privacy for the individual.

The normal toilet and shower block is also very clean with the addition of a large shower which I’m told in the female side is a total wet room with toilet.

I do like the touch of the daily clean towels for use and hand cleaner which is usually stolen on other sites along with free washing up liquid (no! not left by others I know what your thinking)

Yes, it is far from shops and tailored entertainment and you do need to make sure you bring it all with you. Other reviews have stated locations and distances restaurants etc that’s why we went. You really can just sit back and relax here, and if your up early enough watch the deer in the vally fields.

There are many places to visit within a relatively short drive and on one extremely wet morning an hour’s trip to Newcastle and the movies saved the day.

An extra special touch is the Ant and Deck (horses) or bubble and squeak (pigs) pet walk most nights after tea (or dinner if you prefer) they get a walk through the site so the kids of all ages can pat them and watch some little tricks. Nice!

A point to note is the camping field cannot currently be used during the week so give them a call if your going as many passers through were unable to camp. The pictures on their website does reflect the beauty and forest walks right on your doorstep but it comes at a price - Midges “thousands of um”

As a new caravanner, this is the kind of site that put me off camping all these years ago! Tired looking and very basic facilities. That said it was probably clean enough and many may like the 'spartan' approach. The area is nice enough if a little boring.
