Don’t expect a view
We booked 5 months earlier and got the last remaining pitch. £92.50 for 3 nights.
This site had been recommended and because it was bank holiday we thought we’d pay that bit extra. Everything on the web site looked great.
Very misleading from our “row” of vans there was no view whatsoever (unless you call looking into other caravan windows a view), very misleading from the web images. Trees & shrubs had grown, lakes, what lakes? Vans in a row like regimented soldiers on a rough terrain. Space to park your vehicle was very restricted
Grass around pitches very in need of a cut, also on dog walk. Difficult to pick up after your dog in such long grass. Oh and the dog walk also doubled up as a landing strip. Nearly got taken out, very shocked by a light aircraft that came into land above us. No one warned us of that (no signs either).
Saturday night entertainment, as advertised and confirmed when we checked in didn’t materialise (again a particular reason why we booked this site). Apparently she’d been double booked. Hope that they may get something “sorted” for the following night but they didn’t.
TV signal poor in every direction we tried it
Loo/shower block good standard, but I’ve seem equally as good in most sites we’ve visited.
Over all very disappointed, certainly won’t return.

What a delight - we have been trying to book for ages and so pleased we finally got there. We booked two more visits before we left for next year. A fabulous site- peaceful, dog friendly, near to some lovely pubs which serve delicious food so not having an evening dining facility is probably a good thing. You can go to dinner and come back and have a drink in the clubhouse. The bathroom facilities are wonderful, I dread going to a communal shower type site again!! This site spoils you for everything else. Well done Eye Kettleby - see you soon.

I cannot praise this site highly enough. The approach road was like driving into a stately home. The site was beautifully clean. The pitches were well landscaped and of a good size. The tranquility of the lakeside and views were to die for. In 8 years of caravanning we haver never experienced toilet/shower facilities of such high standard. The clubhouse and entertainment were excellent especially as there was a dog friendly area. The staff were a joy to be around, always polite and smiling. This was by far our best experience todate. We have already booked 3 visits for 2015. We cannot thank the staff enough for providing a wonderful expetience. Well done.

Excellent site - quiet, clean with shower/toilet modules that would put a 5* hotel to shame. Great dog walks and very helpful, friendly staff. Go to Melton Mowbray on a Tuesday for a very good market (we used Uplands Farm Boarding Kennels for day care for our 3 westies). We will definitely becoming back and would heartily recommend.

What a discovery this was a truly splendid touring site with fully serviced pitches with hard standing. Spotlessly clean and with the toilet block near where our van was pitched having individual shower/toilet rooms. so very private. All buildings are log cabins and look so good. The bistro/café served super breakfasts reasonably priced as well. The location was excellent for visiting all the attractions nearby. Keep up the good work very well done.

So professionally run! Huge commitment by all concerned so clearly "management" have got it right as well. One can only admire the attention to detail ( the doggie shower with warm water is a masterpiece). This site must surely be appreciated by everyone who desires quality tranquility and civility just for starters. It then just gets better. Adults only Rule OK.

wow wow wow, amazing site, shower block is amazing. had a great 5 day break and looking forward to the next. To say it's only their second season they have done a great job. Maybe in the future they might put an elsan point near the top shower block for those older visitors that are not too good on the old pins but it's not too far for the elsan at the bottom of the field. Just a tiny little niggle apart from that its amazing. Maybe they could get a couple of mobility scooters to hire out to the elderly visitors so they don't miss out on the whole site. Highly recommended. Should be a 6 star site.

Our 3rd visit to Eye Kettleby Lakes Touring Park and there will hopefully be many more to come. The site is one of the best sites you could visit. The facilities are 5* with outstanding shower facilities, the staff are friendly and helpful and the pitches are all fully serviced. The club house is the perfect place to unwind and have breakfast (its a shame you can't get an evening meal but there are plenty of superb local pubs to eat at so its not really an issue!). A peaceful adult site where you can relax and unwind...even if your not a fisherman!

kettleby lakes was one of the best touring sites we have visited. The facilities were outstanding and the staff friendly and welcoming giving a full detailed introduction to the site and the local amenities to visit. The only details that could be improved on is a evening eating facility within their outstanding clubhouse so a drink and meal could be enjoyed by drivers, also it would be a plus to have Wi-Fi available to the touring site also. We would recommend this site without hesitation and will be visiting the site again asap.

A quality, peaceful adults only site. Individual fully serviced pitches located around a small lake. Be even better as the planting matures. Well laid out with use of quality materials. Eight individual en-suite toilet facilities mark this out as a different type of site. The reception + bar + cafe add to the site amenities while staff are friendly and helpful. A paradise for anglers while plenty of footpath walking in and around the site. Will definitely go again.

I have travelled extensively all around the world in all forms of transport for holidays. I've camped boated caravaned and Motorhomed. I am a keen angler and tend to go for sites that offer facilities that allow me to enjoy what I like and for my dear wife to chill out which is what she likes to do. We have dogs and they always travel with us. To find a site such as Eye Kettltby Lakes is without a doubt a dream come true. Not only are the pitches of an excellent standard but the 'Toilet and Washingblocks' can only be described as five star hotel standard. The staff are really friendly and helpful and because of this everyone we met on the site reciprocated the friendly feelings. We were made to feel welcome all the time and treated as if we were the most important people there even though we knew that all guests are treated the same way. The site is beautifully landscaped and the walks around the lakes and the surrounding area were excellent for the dogs. I would not hesitate to reccomend this site to anyone who likes caravaning motorhoming or fishing because here you have it all and then some.
Well done Eye Kettleby Lakes team.

WOW what a surprise this is the best caravan site we have been to. It blinds any caravan club site. Its so peaceful as its adults only the pitches are superb and its not overly big and you get to pick your pitch when you book so no crawling round looking for a pitch. The shower block well its not blocks its individual showers like having an ensuite just amazing. The owners are so welcomimg and if you have dogs the walks are great we loved it so much we booked again then and there. Only downside for me is its made my husband take up fishing again.

We have been caravanning for 25+ years and this is by far the best site we have stayed on. We will definately return. The facilities, as described in other reviews, were excellent, the pitches and toilet/shower facilities especially. The whole site was beautifully maintained with large landscaped pitches, tarmac roads and hardstandings, plus lots of lakes to keep the anglers happy. The free WiFi was a welcome added bonus. The Reception Area/Breakfast Room/Bar was comfortable and welcoming and a nice place to have a coffee or a drink either on your own or with fellow campers. The staff were friendly and helpful, all in all a great place to stay.

just returned from a weeks stay at eye kettleby lakes caravan park, and what a week we had,the weather was good and the site fantastic, from the minute we arrived we were made welcome, easy check in and the pitches were massive,we stayed on a superior pitch with our friends next door to us,the grass was cut very short and tidy and ready for the awning to go on,the toilet and showers were fabulous, when you opened the door to go in the radio came on and there was underfloor heating when you stepped out of the shower, they were cleaned everyday to a very high standard, the only down fall was the toilets were in with the showers,so if you just needed to go to the toilet, you had to queue and wait for people to have a shower, but when speaking to reception on our way out were told that they were in the process of having some seperate toilets built,we went to the club house on the first night for a hog roast, and got to meet many other campers, everybody were very friendly,my husband and our friends husband went fishing on 2 of the 7 lakes that are on the site, they really enjoyed it and caught quite a few fish, the only downside is that at the weekend it gets full with people that are not camping,as it is open to the public,we also went into melton mobray for the day wich was only 10 minutes in the car, this was a lovely shopping town,so hopefully we will be returning very soon,

really cannot praise this site enough. It is absolutely immaculate.Lovely big hard standing pitches. The facilities are the best we've ever encountered. The whole time we were there the staff were busy mowing, planting, cleaning etc.The setting is very beautiful and peaceful with lovely lakes, plenty of wildlife and just a lovely place to stroll around.Very dog friendly. We stayed on site the whole few days as we have a new puppy(first holiday for her!)But there would have been plenty of places to visit nearby.
We will definately be going back.just perfect!

Guestbook reviews

I have been caravanning for over 40 years and do not give praise unless they earn it.

Every once in a while you come across a site that just has it so right that you hesitate to tell anyone else and keep it to yourself.

Eye Kettleby Lakes Near Melton Mowbury is just one such site. Long established as a fishing venue with luxury log cabins for hire they have now opened a caravan area for 2012.

Would that all sites were like this one. From the outset you are impressed. Entry is via a long drive with Electric gates kept locked (keypad) at night. Reception has a massive car park and is contained in the largest log cabin you can imagine (More later)

Once booked in by the friendliest and professional staff we went to find our pitch. No gravel roads here everything is smooth tarmac, including the large hard standings. So both car and van are level and mud free. Along side was a manicured grass area and the instructions to pitch with the van on the hard standing and the awning on the grass was perfect. We had booked their ‘superior pitch at £20 per night. To find each pitch had it’s own water, drainage, electric and T.V. point. No aquaroll needed here. Each pitch was spacious and ample sitting out area remained after erecting the awning. Each pitch is bordered by newly planted hedges that will mature quickly.

3 Services are scattered about the site. No communal showers e.t.c. Each block is a beautiful log cabin containing 4 individual rooms. Shower . W.C. even piped music and hair dryers to a standard that would put many a posh hotel to shame. Similar with the Laundry room that even has a fridge for customers to use if they wish.

Set in rural area and very quiet, the site has many fishing lakes for those so inclined and walks from it for those who are not. The Reception complex houses a friendly bar which is open throughout the day and evening serving a range of beers and drinks at ‘correct’ prices. Breakfast is also served 8am – 10am if you fancy the full monty.

Free WiFi and a small shop selling Milk Wine e.t.c. is also part of the complex. As is Bike hire.

Nearby (driving) are many small villages all with the necessary Pubs serving food and Melton Mowbury is only a short drive. Other attractions include Rutland Water and villages, Barnsdale Gardens, Calke Abbey and the Vale of Belvior.

It’s easy when things are new to be good, but the attitude of ‘can do’ and the friendly nature of the staff made it such a pleasure to visit that friends we were with, booked to return at May BH. Straight away. Sadly we could not having other commitments but wish we could.

Dogs (on a lead) are welcome. The site is ‘Adults Only’ Given the fishing lakes and safety issues.
