This site is equipped as a luxury facility Site for all seasons and all interests, situated in a bowl with panoramic views at the heart of the Peak National Park. All pitches are all-weather. This is a marvellous base for all kinds of outdoor activities, including walking, hill and rock climbing, potholing, biking and riding. It would be hard to imagine anywhere with such an array of natural and historical features both above and below ground. The village of Castleton, dominated by the ruins of William the Conqueror's Peveril Castle from which it gets its name, is only half a mile away. All year round there are shops and pubs to delight the visitor, and at Christmas time the streets are awash with lights and the shops stay open late.

Losehill Caravan Club Site
Castleton
Situated by Castleton, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Peak District is Losehill Caravan Club Site.
This neat, well managed site is open all year round and is well equipped for coping with inclement weather (winter or summer).
All 81 pitches are level and hard standing and the site is landscaped with small trees and shrubs. A perimeter of mature trees can make some pitches shadier than others but as you can choose your own pitch this is not normally a problem.
Sturdy stone utility buildings provide spotless washing and laundry facilities; there is also a drying room. As with most caravan club sites there is a small safe play area for young children, older children are also catered for with a games room.
½ mile from the site is Castleton, a charming village which nestles beneath the ruins of Peveril Castle, an imposing Norman Keep. The villages’ main street offers pretty shops and cafes and a tourist information centre.
Castleton is a hub for outdoor activities. Miles of well marked footpaths radiate from the village. Why not climb Mam Tor (known locally as the Shivering Mountain), the peak that dominates the village. From the summit a paved path links the other peaks that encircle the valley below.
The area is also ideal for cycling, caving and rock climbing.
For the less adventurous there are numerous show caves that extend into the surrounding hillsides (one involves a boat trip!). From here the famous Blue John stone is mined, many local shops sell jewellery made with this beautiful purple/ blue quartz.
There are other great days out not far from Castleton. The Derwent Valley Reservoirs provide miles of nature trails and bikes can also be hired from here. The Ladybower Reservoir is best known as the spot where Barnes Wallis’s “bouncing bomb” was tested during World war 11.
Local villages are steeped in history in this area and well worth a visit, Tideswell, with it’s “Cathedral of the Peaks”, Eyam ,the “Plague village” and don’t forget the Well Dressing ceremonies that lots of villages hold in the summer months.
This site is in a great location, offering a wide choice of activities and places to visit and it has the added bonus of being open all year round. What more could you want?

Losehill is a brilliant little site and is set in the beautiful Peak District National Park
The site is open all year and the pitches are all hardstanding to reflect this, they are all of a good size, however some are closer to the road than others and some traffic noise is evident.
The reception doubles as a small shop with milk eggs etc and newspapers to order.
The facilities on this site are top class with a never ending supply of hot water in the powerful showers and the blocks kept pristinely clean. There are the usual Baby & toddler and disabled facilities; the washing up area is small but adequate.
There is also a drying room on this site to take care of your walking equipment after those not so nice days.
An information room gives you the low down on all the local attractions and also has information on the local pubs and restaurants, if in doubt ask the friendly Wardens they were only too pleased to help.
There is a children’s play area on site and also a small dog walk for our four legged friends.
There is a small convenience store in Castleton and also in Hope village and a good few pubs that serve mouth watering food at reasonable prices.
The site is a haven for walkers due to its location, but is also ideal for families as there is much to do in the local area with Pevril Castle and speedwell cavern just a short distance away.

The site is in an excellent location, just 5 mins walk from the village Castleton.
The site itself is very modern and the facilities are second to none, but they should be, its expensive to stay here, I say that as a Caravan club member.
The weekend we stayed there, the site was choka-block, chatting to the unsmiling warden, it is full all the time and we did have difficulty finding a weekend that we could get on. The toilet blocks were ok and cleaned regularly but with so many people on site it seemed like they only just managed to keep on top of it.
On the plus side:
· Location
· Facilities
· Good sized pitch
Down side
· Cost (far too expensive for what you get compared to other sites I have been on.)
· Too busy on site
· Hard to book.
I probably wouldn’t try too hard to book it again.
