18 May 2010: bigbertieman from scotland reviewed Craigie Gardens Caravan Club Site

Been to the site before the previous years so i highly recommend it.having a young family we enjoyed the park which kept them amused The pitches are spotless and very well maintaines as you would expect from the Caravan Club.Hard to believe you are within a short walking distance of Ayr itself.Great central point for exploring Ayrshire.Recommnend visiting the Heads of Ayr Animal Farm which not only has unusal animals but every activity for toddlers to teenagers. If on a tight budget take your own packed lunch.back to Craigie Gardens when we where there there was a great mix of caravaners and as always toilets excellent condition. When you find a site like this you keepon returning an that is what we will be doing this year.

Just ten minutes’ walk from the popular resort of Ayr with its beautiful beaches and many fine buildings, this site is a great base for families wanting a seaside holiday in Scotland. Golf enthusiasts will also love this site because of the many courses – Ayrshire has 40 – within easy reach. Those in search of some Scottish culture can hit the Burns Trail, which is right on the doorstep. The pitches are all large, and hardstanding, and separated by trimmed grass and hedging. Washroom and laundry facilities and a play area are all onsite.

If you are looking for a park which offers easy access to a wide range of activities and leisure pursuits, then this site is for you.
This peaceful park is situated in the extensive grounds of Craigie Park. All pitches are level hardstandings separated by immaculately trimmed grass and hedged areas. The toilet facilities are up to the usual high standard expected of a Caravan Club site. Although the park is well sheltered by mature trees, most pitches enjoy sunshine for a good part of the day.
A few minutes' walk takes you to Ayr railway station, the Racecourse, supermarkets and Ayr's attractive shopping centre. A little further is the lovely, sandy, beach backed by acres of grass play area. Many return to the beach promenade in the evening to watch spectacular sunsets over the Isle of Arran. The legendary Scots poet, Robert Burns, was born near Ayr and the Burns National Heritage Park is just along the road. A little further away is Culzean Castle and Country Park, the award-winning Vikingar, a Viking attraction. From the nearby port of Ardrossan, a sail to Arran, said to be Scotland in miniature, is a must. Just under an hour by train takes you to the vibrant city of Glasgow, while a day trip to Dublin from nearby Prestwick airport is also a popular choice.
Ayrshire is golf country and there is a wide range of courses for everyone. The championship course of Turnberry is only a few miles down the coast. With an indoor leisure centre, cinemas and a theatre completing the picture, Ayr really has something for everyone and Craigie Gardens is the ideal location to make the most of what Ayr has to offer.
The site is fairly easy to find, being roughly two miles from the main A77.
