Newton Abbot, Devon

Parkers Farm Holiday Park in Devon is open from March to November every year, and welcomes guests in tents, caravans and motorhomes; there are static holiday homes to hire, too.

Guests are considered part of the family – the Parker family that is – while staying at Parkers Farm, a holiday park created by relatives more than 60 years ago. Developed and expanded over time, the touring park is terraced to provide large, level pitches overlooking Dartmoor, while the beaches at Torbay are just 12 miles away. Two modern, recently refurbished shower blocks with private washing facilities, including family rooms and provision for the disabled, keep guests clean and spruced up after a muddy ramble across Dartmoor or a day on the beach.

There are 100 touring pitches at this campsite in Devon, of which 25 are hardstanding. There are also 11 super pitches, which are larger in size and are bordered by hedges for extra privacy. In addition to the aforementioned washblocks, there is a laundry with washing machines, dryers, ironing equipment and sinks, a shop so you can top up your holiday essentials, a dishwashing and vegetable preparation area, a chemical toilet disposal unit, a battery charging service and an ice pack service, a post box, a public phone and a safe play area for the children. There's also a friendly bar and restaurant, and you can visit the farm – there are sheep, cows, pigs, donkeys, ducks, rabbits and more. So you might not be surprised to hear that Parkers Farm is a dog friendly campsite. Dogs must be kept on a lead other than when enjoying the large exercise area, and they are permitted in part of the bar/restaurant.

In addition, there are 16 static caravans at this holiday park, each with two or three bedrooms. Pets are welcome in some of the caravans. Every caravan is comfortably kitted out with a toilet and shower room, a kitchen with a sink, a fridge, a cooker, crockery and cutlery, and they all have a TV, too. In fact, all you need to bring is your bed linen.

This is an award winning campsite. It has been awarded a silver David Bellamy conversation award, it has a four-pennant rating from the AA and VisitEngland has granted it a four-star rating, too. In addition, Parkers Farm features in the Top 100 Sites Guide 2017. This essential guide is put together by Caravan Sitefinder, Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome, and it lists the best campsites in the UK. Visitors praised this site for being welcoming and friendly, clean and well-ordered, with wonderful views and lots for younger guests to do. Devon is a very popular destination for camping, motorhome and caravan holidays, and as an award winning campsite, Parkers Farm is worth visiting.

As we've already said, this is a super campsite for exploring the Dartmoor National Park and the English Riviera. Plymouth is only about a 40-minute drive away and Exeter is only 30 minutes away, too, making Parkers Farm Holiday Park a top destination for your self catering, camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in Devon.

This is a really friendly site,
Easy to get to, excellent clean facilities - shower blocks and toilets very clean.
Very convenient location for some excellent walks and villages/sites.
There is an excellent farm walk for the younger children (my niece and nephew loved it).
Big trampolines also popular with the kids.
Pitches are level and a good size.
Have been there three times last year and am going back again this year. Thoroughly recommended.

Have visited Parkers 4 times over the past 4 years. I would highly recommend the family atmosphere, you are made to feel like a friend, not an intruder on their park (as some parks do!). Good central location as a touring base, easy access, very clean toilets/shower rooms, good pitches,(they don't mind you picking your own), will definately go again in the future.
