Cheddar Bridge Touring Park

Cheddar, Somerset

Enquire Now You enquired

Cheddar Bridge Touring Park is an adults only campsite in Somerset, meaning you can enjoy your holidays in peace and quiet – a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Open from March until October every year, visitors are welcomed in touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, plus there are static caravans, apartments, a camping pod and even a gypsy caravan, all of which can be rented. It's quite a quirky little site that offers a range of accommodation options and that also has a prettily decorated reception chalet. It's a dog friendly campsite, although each hound incurs an extra fee of £2 per night and must be kept on a lead. Campfires are not permitted and barbecues must be kept off the ground.

Starting with the touring pitches, if you're coming to Cheddar Bridge Touring Park for your motorhome or caravan holidays, you'll find that whether grass or hardstanding, all the pitches are level and electric hook-ups are available – some pitches are even beside the river. The well presented amenities block isn't far away and there's also a laundrette and a covered dishwashing area.

If you've got a tent you can pitch it in the dedicated tent field that is flat and sheltered. It has its own, small toilet block as well as somewhere to do your washing up – there's also a fridge/freezer that guests are invited to make use of. The camping pitches aren't numbered – just pitch in the spot you like the most! But there is a limit to the number of tents allowed, so the field never feels cramped. In addition, there are some electric hook-up points in this field and if you want one, you're advised to state so when you book, and there are special rates for walkers and cyclists.

There are also static caravans at Cheddar Bridge Touring Park – riverside caravans and garden caravans. Pets are not allowed in the static caravans, but each unit does accommodate up to four people. They are also well equipped and bedding is included.

Another alternative is to stay in an apartment. One dog is allowed per apartment and you can choose to stay in either the Annex Apartment or the Mendip Apartment. These adult only, self catering holiday apartments in Somerset each have a double bedroom and en suite, as well as a fully fitted kitchen.

One of the newer additions to Cheddar Bridge Touring Park is the option of staying in a pod. These cosy, wooden pods in the campsite's tent field sleep two people and have electric plug sockets and flat screen TVs, each with a picnic table and chairs outside – you'll have to bring your own blow up bed or camp bed and bedding, though.

Finally, there's the unusual opportunity to spend your caravan holiday in a gypsy wagon. Dating from the 1940s and located on the riverbank, it has been refurbished to provide comfortable accommodation for two. There's a double bed, power points, lights and a TV with a DVD player, as well as a table and chairs outside. Just bring your usual camping kit and enjoy a different camping experience! It's not sited too far from the washblock, either.

There's so much to do on your camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in Somerset. The campsite's reception area has information about things to do in the area and you can also find out about public transport links there, too. From Cheddar Gorge, the Mendip Hills AONB to Weston-super-Mare, from your home-from-home or holiday home in Somerset, there's plenty to keep you busy – or just kick back and relax at this diverse, adults only campsite.
