Beverley Park is a lovely site on a rounded headland high above Paignton, with stunning views across the bay to Torquay. Its facilities are pristine, and it sees its guests as friends, not customers – around 50 percent return year after year. On arrival, you’ll be taken to your pitch by a friendly member of staff driving a dinky golf-cart.

The central facility block has it all – pretty garden/crazy golf course, shop and leisure centre, and an attractive reception. But how many sites would put the games room and fast-food restaurant up front? Beverley Park does, and they’re both immaculate.

For evening entertainment, there’s a huge nightclub-type auditorium, and a lovely upstairs bar with views out over the garden terrace. The park has been beautifully landscaped with flowerbeds and hanging baskets, and there’s even a garden planted specifically to attract butterflies. But bear in mind that dogs are not allowed.

Beverley Park truly excels in its attitude to customers: for example, the outdoor pool is open even when it’s too cold to swim. Why? Because the owners think it’s unfair for winter visitors to be faced with an empty pool with the covers on. Its these details that earn Beverley Park its well-deserved place on the list.
