Woodovis Park

Tavistock, Devon

Enquire Now You enquired

Woodovis Park is a small yet impressive campsite in Devon that welcomes caravans, motorhomes and tents, and also has self catering accommodation, giving plenty of options for your holidays in this popular English county. It is also a very dog friendly campsite.

Woodovis Park is nestled on the edge of the spectacular Tamar Valley, which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site. Expect nothing less than the best here: this small and peaceful touring park offers facilities usually associated with larger sites.

Bearing that in mind, you won’t be surprised to hear that this is an award winning campsite. It features in the 2014 edition of the Top 100 Sites Guide, which is published by the camping experts at Practical Caravan, Practical Motorhome and Caravan Sitefinder. This trusted guide lists the 100 best campsites in the UK as voted for by readers and experts – and in such a popular holiday destination like Devon, success is all the sweeter. Guests commended Woodovis Park for its excellent facilities, its friendly and helpful staff, and the campsite’s shop. This campsite has also been granted a Certificate of Excellence by Trip Advisor and in the 2014 AA Campsite of the Year, it was crowned the winner in the South West England category.

So this campsite has earned a lot of praise, but with just 41 touring pitches (28 of which are hardstanding), you’d be well advised to book to avoid disappointment when planning your camping and caravan holidays in Devon.

Those staying in tents have the choice of pitching on a grass pitch, an all weather pitch or a super pitch, the latter giving guests a 16A electric hook-up, a TV aerial point, a personal water supply and grey waste drain, and a special groundsheet. The same three options are available to those staying in caravans and motorhomes, the grass and all weather pitches with 10A hook-ups, while there are 16A electric and water hook-ups plus a TV aerial point and a grey waste drain on the super pitches.

What about the self catering options? Well, you could stay at one of the luxury holidays homes at this campsite in Devon. Woodovis Park has a collection of two- and three-bedroom caravans that can sleep up to six people. With showers, toilets, well equipped kitchens, digital TVs and bedding, they are comfortable places to spend your holidays in Devon.

Glamping is another option, a handful of pods available, sleeping either two or four (pets are not permitted). These represent a fun and charming alternative to camping, and with double glazing, electricity and decking, you really can enjoy life’s creature comforts on this camping holiday with a difference.

Finally, there’s a pretty little self catering holiday cottage, too. The two-bedroom Woodovis Cottage sleeps three in a traditional converted stable building. Heating, electricity and linen are included in the price and the cottage has a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a lounge and a patio garden, where you can sit and soak up the atmosphere. And you can still access the campsite’s facilities, including the shop, the spa and the swimming pool – is this the best of both worlds?

So however you want to spend your self catering holidays, your motorhome tours or your camping and caravan holidays in Devon, the award winning Woodovis Park is well worth considering.

We have just spent a week at this fantastic site. It was wonderful!

The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The pool and games room kept the children amused and there were plenty of dog walks/runs within immediate park area for Mum and pooch! The pub at the end of the road was great too.

The toilets and showers were always immaculate and never busy.

The site was also immaculately kept and lovely and quiet.

We will certainly be back!

To sum up Woodovis Park in one word, it would be "Welcoming!"
From the moment we arrived, all staff, and guests were so friendly.
The site is clean and well arranged. Greta facilities, with the pool and spa.
The toilets and shower block were very clean, and showers were hot and power full.
There were even posh soap, and body lotion on hand.
We stayed in the camping pop, but the caravan and tent pitches lloked great too.
We will be going back with some friends asap next year ;0) 5 Stars!! Well done to them.
PS - Tomm Tomm gets you there, but follow you nose to local Tavistock, as the Tomm Tomm has you going down little single lane roads. Excellent.!!

A huge thanks to all at Woodovis Park! This was my first camping experience and thanks to your lovely park and friendly staff, I absolutely loved it! The facilities were exceptional and the little extras such as the local information, restaurant recommendations, walks and places to visit were very much appreciated. We will definitely be back in the near future. Thanks once again.

Woodovis Park richly deserves all its accolades and awards. It is a peaceful idyll set in glorious Devon countryside. The long tree lined avenue to the park means there is no traffic noise whatsoever. The friendly, helpful staff, the spotless facilities and the indoor pool and spa all combine to give a perfect holiday. Thank you - we will be back!

The park is so peaceful and relaxing, with very friendly and helpful staff. Although we only had a four night break, we felt more relaxed and destressed staying here then we have after a fortnights holiday elsewhere. The swimming pool and sauna are fantastic. But it was the dog friendliness that really made it, with a designated area for walking. Will hopefully be back next year!

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Woodovis Park. The site is clean and you always get a friendly welcome, Woodovis is a great place to go and relax. The park has a great swimming pool that the children (and us) enjoy. We have been visiting Woodovis for the past 6 years and will go back again as its a great base to explore Devon and Cornwall.

We recently stayed at Woodovis Park for a few days during what must go down as one of the wettest weeks on record. Nevertheless we had a great time. The park is fabulous. The pitches are spacious and the holiday homes are spotlessly clean and well-maintained. We took advantage of the facilities - swimming pool, archery etc.and also enjoyed the local area which is very beautiful (if a trifle damp!)

Property manager response (30 Jul 2010)

Hi Sue, Thank you for your lovely review. Let's hope that next time you visit you get to enjoy the Devonshire sunshine too!!

We had a great few nights away at Woodovis Park. The site was clean with friendly and helpful staff. The facilities were excellent and the bread they bake daily was lovely! We didn't make it to the swmining pool but it looked excellent, open all day every day. We walked to the Chipshop pub from the site - nice walk there (in the light!) but coming back in the dark wasn't great - make sure you take a torch! Lovely quiet, secluded location and just great to get away from it all! I would recommend all ages to go there if they just fancy a 'chill out' and access to the great countryside around it!

My wife and I recently visited the excellent Woodovis Park The welcome from Chris was great and he took time to make sure we were settled in. All the site was clean and tidy we particularly like the size of pitch and modern toilet block, but most of all the friendly atmosphere generated by the staff. We plan to go back for another stay!

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week long stay at Woodovis Caravan Park. I have been visiting John and Dorothy’s park since my childhood and can not express how much we enjoy it! The park is beautifully kept and the staff are delightfully friendly, Steph and Gareth the new park wardens are lovely!!

After spending the first three nights in our tent, we were a little chilly! We enquired about the new camping pod on the site and decided on a warm change for out last two nights. The pod is amazing!! Warm, spacious and comfortable. It comes complete with heater and lamp to make the experience inviting! There is a table and chairs on a veranda to sit out and enjoy the fresh Devon air and take in the views with lots of peace and quiet!

I strongly recommend the Camping Pod and the Woodovis site to anyone!! We are already looking forward to returning in September!!

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic week camping at Woodovis. The site is very well laid out with large pitches. The facilities are excellent with power showers, hairdryers, plenty of toilets and private washing area they were spotless at all times. The launderette and dish-washing facilities were excellent. We enjoyed the heated swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

What more can I say the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend the site and will return when we visit Devon again.

Living close to London, with all the hustle and bustle means that a weekend away in the countryside is a welcomed retreat. And retreat is the perfect description for Woodovis. You are welcomed with big smiles and friendly faces, shown around the park and all your questions answered. When you wander around you can understand why Woodovis is a 5 star site - the facilities are unbelievable, with an indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, a games room, beautiful kept gardens and the cleanest toilets we have ever seen on a campsite.

But it is the staff that make Woodovis the oasis it really is. They are constantly going that extra mile to ensure that everyone is enjoying their holiday - even cooking fresh bread onsite every morning.

We will continue to go to Woodovis for years to come and cannot recommend it enough.

A perfect holiday every time.

The brochure says 'you arrive as visitors but leave as friends' even after only a short stay that is exactly how you feel. A warm welcome awaits you and you are personally shown to your pitch and given all the information you need. The site is immaculate from the pitches, gardens to the toilet and shower facilities. The other facilities on site kept our children (6yrs and 3 yrs) entertained. My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing sauna and spa and the children enjoyed the pool. We will definately return. Very peaceful and relaxing.

We stayed at Woodovis over the Easter break with our 4 children whose ages are between 18 months and 14 years. The staff were friendly, approachable and extremely hard working. The site was very clean and the swimming pool area was immaculate. We didn't have the feeling where you have to walk on your tiptoes because the floor is so grotty!! The onsite shop made freshly baked bread and croissants each morning that you could pre order the night before and, as our caravan was moments from the shop it smelt absolutely divine. In the evenings the older two went and played pool and air hockey in the games room with other children. The atmosphere was lovely, it isn't a huge site but this made it quite homely. The only disappointing thing about this site was the children’s play park. It was a nice area with a tractor and a playhouse but it really needs some swings or a slide. We would definitely recommend this site and will return to it in the future.

It was super. We had a lovely time. The campsite is beautiful, clean and whit nice trees/plants. The atmosphere is very friendly en our children had a good time whit other children. The facilities are very good: nice pool+whirlpool+sauna and a golf-site. The place makes it easy to visit lots of things in Devon and Cornwall: natural beauty, castles, the sea, places to visit whit the children. We like to recommend it to others! Thank you John and Dorothy!

We had a fantastic time at Woodovis Park. When we arrived we thought we were going to stay there for 3 days, but we ended up staying there for our complete summer holiday. The place is clean, beautiful and the people are great! We really felt welcome and even our kids talked about going "home" instead of going to the caravan. Thank you all very much for making us feel at home! We will certainly recommend you to our friends and hope to be back soon.

Woodovis Park, Devon
We have just visited a lovely, very friendly site where everything was just as we would have hoped. Additionally, all the facilities are very clean all the time and everthing you could want is there - including an ironing board with iron, necessary for us this visit as we chose Tavistock as a convenient location! Not least Tavistock itself has so many very lovely individual/independent little shops - and a great Indian restaurant. A really excellent site. We will visit again.

Lovely site, very peaceful and tranquil, but still suitable for families. Excellent swimming pool with just the right facilities, the play area and putting green were enough to entertain children and the park facilities were clean and good quality. We stayed in a static caravan, which was very comfortable and clean. The little extras made a difference too - a welcome gift on arrival, tea/coffee sachets, matches in the kitchen (we always forget them!!). Well located for trips across Dartmoor to see the views and ponies!

Of all the campsites we've ever stayed on, this one takes the crown for us. We are used to the standards of the Caravan Club, but my wife, children and I felt Woodovis set new standards for others to aspire to. Woodovis is beautifully laid out with space enough for touring caravans, tents, and their permanent sited static vans. Theirs loads of room and plenty to keep the children happy with play park, and plenty of space for safe ball games. The icing on the cake is an indoor pool with hot tub, and steam room......or even the fresh bread straight out of the oven in the mornings. The site is ideally located to visit many local attractions whether it be visiting local markets with their timetable of events, or just escaping up to Kit Hill with its magnificent views and lovely walks. All in all if you want a camp site to remember ..this is the one. Thankyou so much John and Dorothy for all your efforts. Without a shadow of a doubt you have a 5 Star rating from us. In the words of Arnold Swartzenegger...I'll be back.

I was on a camping/bicycle tour of Britian and arrived at Woodovis Park in Devon very weary. I was given a very warm welcome by he owners, and a choice of excellent pitches for my small tent. I fully intend to re-visit with my caravan at the earliest opportunity.

Fantastic campsite - peaceful and beautiful location. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and really make you welcome. The swimming pool is beautiful - light and airy and a real plus with the children - whatever the weather. Every morning the children start the day with the trip to the shop for freshly baked croissant and bread - what a brilliant idea. Walks on the moors, swimming in the rivers and trips to the beach made up our days. And one day we joined in the water walking in the pool - sounds a mad idea running around a large inflated ball on the pool like hamsters - but was great fun for all ages and a great work out! Really recommend this site to anyone who loves a peaceful site, great facilities, family friendly and a friendly welcome. We have been coming here or the last 8 years now and it just gets better and better.

Guestbook reviews

We have just returned from 4 nights in a deluxe caravan. We were warmly welcomed and checked in a little earlier than the advised time but this was no problem to Helen and Tony. The facilities were spotless and extremely comfortable. Everything provided that you could possibly need for your break. The site was was also spotless and very well looked after. Swimming pool, spa pool and Heat Treatment room wonderful. My 7 year old enjoyed the games room and children's play area too. Lovely places to visit around the area and lovely walks to go on. Well worth a visit - will definitely be booking again. Thank you Woodovis.

Woodovis Park

We arrived on Saturday 30th March to a very warm welcome. The caravan we stayed in was a Finch, which we found to be extremely clean, spacious and well equipped. The caravan was lovely and warm and we were very pleased with the overall standard. The park itself was absolutely lovely, very clean and tidy, well organised and we picked up a real sense of this being much more than just a family business, there was a real sense of pride and passion in providing the very best and ensuring everyone was happy. This is an ideal family location with a lovely play park for younger children and a brilliant indoor pool. This is an ideal location to visit both Devon and Cornwall, Dartmoor is literally just around the corner, there is plenty to see and do for all ages. Thoroughly recommend Woodovis, we're returning in August and cant wait!

Great welcome after a long journey. Very helpful wardens in Helen & Tony. We were pitching a tent during the wettest week of the year and were helped with pegs and underlay for a hard standing pitch.
Being over the golden age of 50 there was a discount on the price of the stay too!
Lovely situation at the end of a long drive, amazing facilities, tidy and clean throughout
All in all a terrific weeks stay, will undoubtably be back !!!!!!!

Woodovis Park

Second visit with our Motor Home to this delightful Holiday Park. Set in a pretty rural area but very handy for the lovely town of Tavistock (with its great Pannier Market) and within walking distance of an excellent Inn which does great food at a great price.

Very near Dartmoor for wonderful walking too.

Very friendly and helpful welcome from Warden Angela, spacious pitches, warm indoor pool, sauna, spa bath and nature trail.

Shop sells freshly baked bread and clearly nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Lovely loos (a very important place) and all kept immaculate. Can quite see why this park is multi award winning. Particularly impressed with the solar panels which I have subsequently had installed too having had a very useful chat with the owners about their benefits.

Tons of information for every interest in the games room. We were well advised by Warden Andy to take a taxi to the annual Goose Fair in Tavistock on the 2nd Wednesday of each October. Reasonable taxi rates and Goose Fair is quite a morning's entertainment.

Local pub excellent food at reasonable tariff - run by true locals with produce from their farm.

Will be back next year - staying here for a few days is turning into an annual feature!

Woodovis Park

If you want a place to relax in the peace and quiet of the Devon countryside this is the place to come. The site is uniquely situated at one end of Dartmoor as well as being on the border of Cornwall and is only about 45 minutes from beaches on the south coast and an hours drive from the north.
Woodovis doesn't have a bar or live entertainment which made it ideal for us having the peace instead of the hussle and bussle of modern living which we can catch up with at home. The swimming pool was great for our children, the only thing lacking I think was enough to keep older children going, although that does give time for the family.
Woodovis showed care from the begining by providing holiday ideas on their website, with local locations for whatever action you like on a holiday, you can access these on an easily accessible on site computer. That care showed in that they provided mattress toppers for the double bed in the caravan to help have a good nights sleep (a suggestion from one of their customers).
The static caravans are nicely located and not on top of each other, like other sites that resemble hen battery farming
Staff are always about but never in your face.
Good holiday that would have been excellent if we hadn't had the duff weather!
Came here on the good reviews we were not disappointed.
