Owner's description
An old World War 2 Airfield on the edge of the New Forest, Holmsley is the perfect base for a family holiday. Ponies are often to be found grazing on the roads leading to the site. There is a shop on the site selling a range of groceries, camping essentials and children's toys and games. There is also an excellent onsite fast food service which is well used in high season. Please note that we do not serve alcohol. The nearby village of Burley has a range of tearooms and a couple of pubs. Premium Pitches are available on this site and there are toilets, showers and a laundrette. Holmsley is close to several beaches, the closest of which is Barton on Sea. Bournemouth is a twenty-five minute drive away and Poole approximately forty minutes.

: July in 2012this was a lovely site for a pre high season stay.
We stayed for a long weekend 12th to 15th June 2009. We had a premium pitch which was on hardstanding with hook up. It was very nice. We got there early lunch on a Friday which I would recommend as by Friday evening people were having difficulty finding the pitch they wanted. This is because all pitches first come first serve basis and find and choose your own spot.
The shop is fine, but a little expensive. There is a Sainsburys near by on the way into Christchurch. Though my son loved the local ice cream. The chips from the take away were good, but we mainly cooked from our BBQ.
Saturday was a little noisy as the site was quite busy. Though the rest of the time it was peaceful quite, especially as we pitched right on the edge of the park.
The wildlife was plenty with horses by the main gate and cows near ours, plus plenty of rabbits.
Would we go again? Yes, but not in the peak school holidays or a Bank Holiday. I don't think the place was fully booked this weekend, but it was very busy and popular.
