Just got back from a short break at Ladys mile and was really impressed by all the new facilities for 2012 and even though it was wet we had some lovely nights in the clubhouse. The illusionist they had one night was amazing. Hopefully return over the summer as want to try out the little camping pods they have.

Good points first- caravan (sapphire) very clean and modern. Pools warm and changing rooms clean. Shop cheap and well stocked. Restaurant and chip shop good. Good amenities for the kids. Staff polite and helpful (especially man in shop). 20% was deducted from the already reasonable original price when we actually phoned to book it
Bad points-Nearby beaches awful, had to drive miles for a beach without seaweed and pebbles. Entertainment boring, same singers every night, no outside acts brought in, we saw the same show twice in a week!,however they were enthusiastic and good singers. Club finished early-11pm so no chance of adults having a dance. Dirty bed linen on bed from previous people when we arrived but they did apologise and change it. Caravan near a main busy road so had to sleep in lounge area. No supervision at top of water slides so children were landing on each other at the bottom. Meter cupboard locked so could not put radiators on if it went chilly at night. These points however did not spoil our holiday and we did not find it neccessary to complain about silly things. The only reason that i would not return to dawlish is not because of Ladys mile but because of the lack of a nice sandy beach.

Just got back from a week stay at ladys mile. We had a fantastic time, Campsite and facilities were very clean all through the day. Pitches are a good size, easily accomodating our 21ft tent and all the extra bits. Found a pitch away from the club house which was perfect to sit outside during the evening, unless you want to be among the hustle and bustle. 2 good size pools on site which our two teenagers used most days, and a well stocked mini market at very reasonable prices. Would definately return to this site.

Stayed here for 3 days in June 2011 and had a realy relaxing stay, very clean and tidy and well kept grounds. The entrance still had work being done but put this down to the bad weather over the winter (did'nt affect our stay). Pools were busy and as the weather was hot outdoor pool was open even though it was not ment to be this early in the season, because of the size of the pools the we could still swim fine and the children loved the water slides. We stayed in our touring van in the top meadow which has a brand new shower block which was very nice and also clean. Plenty of hot showers and toilet rolls. The other blocks were just as nice. Bar was large and entetainment was very good. reception staff were very helpfull and spent time helping us google places of interest. In all had a very good stay and will be back in 2 days time for a week. (Children can't wait)

We stayed here last week end and have booked to go back in August. We found the staff all very helpfull and nothing was too much trouble for them to do. We were given a choice of pitches and found one near the main pool and bar complex. The pitch was large as we had 1 family tent + a kids tent. The play area was well maintained with what looked like a new rubber safty surface on it. The kids loved it. The 2 pools were big both with water slides and room to sunbath around the out door pool. Showers and toilets were clean and well lit with pleanty of hot water. In all we found it a very good park and have already booked to return.

we were disapointed! We were told to choose our own pitch and instead of us pull our 23ft caravan around i went off on my own. The pitch sizes aren't big enough at all. If you have your awning up there's no space to put your car, stupid!

The play park is the best part of this site, We only went to the pool once and only the outdoor one which was ok but i don't think the lifegaurds need to be so miserable and strict with your bands. We got told by our friends that if you go to the indoor pool you don't go for a swim you go for a 'bob' because its its that crowded all everyone was doing was bobbing about, ha. We never went to the clubhouse either as it was extremely dated and smelt and was full of undesirables.

We never tried the take away as it smelt awful. The toilets were ok but you never got hot water as they were so busy and there was always grass on the floors. All in all the site is very dated, like something from the 70's, we wouldn't go back to this site again. so much for being the English Riviera!

I'm sorry, our experience of this site was not a good one. On arriving we were told to choose a pitch. What a nightmare, after at least 40 minutes of driving round, towing a 23ft tourer, we finally found a big enough pitch. This was extremely uneven, but the best that was left. The facilities are nowhere near big enough to cope with the volume of holidaymakers at peak season. The entertainment was very poor, although the entertainment team obviously did their best with what they had, which wasn't much. The staff did try very hard to keep the shower blocks clean but with the sheer volume of people they're task is impossible. We will not be going back to this site. However, on the upside our kids enjoyed the indoor & outdoor pools and the playground is very good.

Site far too big for the amount of amenities. Pitches quite tight for space. Toilets near top meadow very dirty no sanitary bins or soap. Receptionist staff not very helpful. Your left to find your devices to find your own pitch and not sure whether people are arriving or departing.

I've been going to this site for over 10 years and feel that these bad reviewers must have the wrong park. We have always found staff to be friendly, park clean and tidy. Plenty of toilets and showers and plenty of room on the pitches. The park dose get busy in the school holidays whichmust show how good the place is. But we always find it relaxing and enjoyable no matter what time of year we go.

We have just came back from a week in a tent on ladys mile near dawlish and we found it a really nice place. It was one of the busiest weeks of the year and not a empty pitch in site. (we asked about staying on a few extra days but was fully booked) As other people stated the club on site is not very big and most of the seats for kids shows were taken by people without children who want a seat for the bingo so this was something that can be improved. Don't be put off by some of the reviews as it was brilliant. We had our 5 year old with us and there was plenty for her to see and do. She really did not want to come home and neither did we. the towns nearby were all nice enough with plenty of little shops for any bits you might have forgotten or need. The little shop on site was fantastic with all the extra stuff you might need at very reasonable prices.( sometimes even cheaper than supermarkets. The site itself was very clean with at least two members of staff collecting rubbuish during the day. Also the glass collector was the most efficiant i have ever seen. No sooner had you finished your drink he was there taking them away. We had almost been put off by some of the reviews we seen but are so glad we gave it a try. Of course there was noise of peoplke havig fun but hey thats what you go on holiday for isn't it. Hope this is helpfull to anybody looking for reasurance about the site.

We stayed here in September 2007. This was the first time we had camped at this site. We found it with no trouble. The site layout was user friendly. We managed to get a pitch close to the shower and toilet block, which were spotless. We had a level pitch with electric hook-up and were very happy with it. The site was very well maintained. Very hot water for washing dishes. Indoor and outdoor pools were clean and well maintained. Launderette if you needed it. Although this is a family site, it was very quiet at night. The site is very close to Dawlish Warren, which we walked to. Lots of facilities there, go karts, amusements, everything for the family if you wanted it. Very good restaurant too. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at The Ladys Mile.

18 Aug 2006: Andrea.mellor from Hants reviewed Ladys Mile Holiday Park

This has got to be the worst site I have ever been on. We had to park on a hill with a 20% incline, which was not good for caravans let alone my trailer tent. But let me start at the beginning.

I along with a friend decided to take our 5 children, 4 boys, 16, 15, 11 and 4 and a girl 12, off for a week camping with my rather large Trailer tent. We arrive after a slow 6 hour journey on what was one of the busiest weekends in August (this should have been only 3 hours), to find that we had a mile queue to get into the camp site, so after yet another ¾ hour we eventually reached the car park. Hurray!!!. But had another 20 minutes waiting to be checked in by what I can only say are the most unhelpful staff ever. Told to go to the Corpse field, if you are told to go there just don’t, we knew no better so off we trot. By now it is approx 5pm and the children had been in the car since 9am. It was starting to rain……, we found what seemed to be the best pitch left in the field and started pitching.

Now remember we had a 4 year old with us, so off we go in search of the toilets, we look around the field and cannot find any, eventually we find a small porter cabin with 4 toilets and 3 showers per sex hidden just inside the field next to us. I have to say these were clean but the 3-4 minute walk was not always reached by our 4 year old.

Showers… as I have said there were three for each sex in the porter cabin, the water temperature could not be control in these, so if it was hot, it was hot and it often was from all reports, like so with the cold. We worked out that they had a total of 7 showers per sex for 3 fields. The 3 fields had approx 300 pitches in total, we gave an estimate of 4 people per pitch, that’s a total of 85 people per shower per day, no wonder it was a 45 minute wait for a shower no matter what time of the day, saying that I did not try in the early hours of the morning.

Washing-up facilities - there were 5 of these for the same 1200 people, and for us another 5 minute walk there and back. It is the first time ever that I have had to wait ¾ to wash up.

As you can see much of our time at Ladys Mile was spent waiting for showers, toilets and washing up facilities. More of it was spent trying to level our trailer tent, cooking meant two of us holding the hot pans on the cooker to stop them from rolling off. Dinner and drinks often ended up on the floor as they rolled off the unsteadily propped up table.

We did complain to the Owner, who was more worried about his problems, in that he had requested a toilet block but could not get planning permission blah blah blah. After us complaining at least three times, they did eventually offer to move us and even help us move, but they were not able to find us another pitch until Monday evening, when it was to late in the evening to do anything. We did not know if the pitch would take our tent plus the two cars and as we were wasting so much time waiting for showers etc we did not want to waste another 4 hours re-pitching the tent, so in the end we stayed were we where.

Now on the plus side, I am sure the club house would have been OK if there were not so many people about, if you were not there by six you could forget getting a table from which you could see the stage. The Showers, toilet etc were clean considering the amount of people that had to use them. The children had a great time in the pools. There was a very nice park but this was for children of all ages, and mixing teenage boys with young toddlers was not a good idea. Our four year old learnt many words he had not hear before, in the end we had to stop taking him there.

Lastly the staff, many of who were Europeans, were not at all friendly and seem to be there under perseverance. When asking for the chips to be re-cooked as they were raw in the middle, the counter staff replied with the dirtiest look every, and I am sure would spat on them if I was not watching closely.

Overall the camp site was over full with not enough facilities, and using the field that had been used for sheep the year before was not a good idea. There was only just enough room to get the cars between the pitches, and the ground was very dusty, which caused everything to be covered in it. The fields were packed so tight it was really quite unsafe for the younger children to be about on their own. We will not be going there again, and many of the people I spoke to would also not be going back. Some of these people had previously been returning to Lady’s Mile for years.

I'm a single parent with 3 children (6, 9, 16), and Lady's Mile was exactly what i was looking for.
It had something for the children to do all of the time, The play park was ideal and it also had a 10:30 curfew which is great especially as it was enforced nightly by the brilliant security staff.
There was also a disco which was brilliant for all 3 of the children, and you could tell that the children were thought about as the entire disco was a no smoking area.
All the staff were extremely helpful, and did everything they could to make sure everybody holiday went smoothly.
I definately recommend it.

Practical Caravans Top 100 Parks Awards 2004

Over the years, the owners of Lady’s Mile Holiday Park have built toilet blocks, a launderette, play areas, and a hugely impressive leisure complex. They laid the bricks, poured the concrete and installed the plumbing themselves. Park management doesn’t come more hands-on than that!

Set in a fold amid the rolling Devon hills just outside Dawlish, Lady’s Mile balances the need for privacy (generous pitch size, comprehensive terracing, and lots of open space) with all the requirements of a good time (food, drink, music, games machines, swimming pools, fitness suite and shop). But most importantly, the owners have recognised an important rule of family life – if the kids are happy, everybody’s happy. There’s a children’s disco (“best thing we ever did”, according to the owner), a truly spectacular children’s play area built on sand so it’s like being on the beach, a well-thought-out football area with high chain-link fences so the kids don’t spent half their time running off to retrieve the ball, and even a field for kite-flying. Not that it’s a case of ‘anything goes’ where kids are concerned – parents are expected to keep control of them at all times.

The overall impression is that the owners really listen to what their guests have to say. For instance, somebody must have said they got bored waiting in the laundry, so now there are fruit machines in there. How’s that for attention to detail?
