Robin Hood Retreat Caravan Park is a friendly, relaxing countryside escape in the heart of Nottinghamshire, close to the towns of Newark-on-Trent and Mansfield.

The park is set in 1000 acres of beautiful landscape, with incredible views in all directions as well as opportunities for enjoying countryside and woodland walks both on-site and further afield.

Robin Hood Retreat Caravan Park welcomes guests with touring caravans, motorhomes and tents. All of the caravan and motorhome pitches are hardstanding and benefit from electric hook-ups, while tent pitches are all grass and are available with or without electric hook-ups. All the pitches are well spaced throughout the site's woodland, ensuring all guests staying at the park enjoy their own area and a degree of privacy while at Robin Hood Retreat Caravan Park. Seasonal pitches are available, plus storage is also offered here.

Facilities on hand for guests to use at Robin Hood Retreat Caravan Park include showers, toilets and basins, a dishwashing area and a grey water drainage point. There is also a laundrette, while a freezer is available for freezing food or ice packs.

In addition to some excellent nature and woodland walks that can be enjoyed at the park, there is a great children’s play area for little ones to run around in and let off some steam. Pets are allowed to stay at the park with their owners, and are able to exercise across the park. Owners are asked to clear up after their pets and to control their pets at all times.

If you want to visit Nottinghamshire on your motorhome or campervan tours, or on your camping and caravan holidays, then this park is ideally situated for exploring what is known as Robin Hood Country – although there is a wealth of great places to visit even for those that aren’t interested in the legendary story and related locations.

Fancy a round of golf? Sherwood Forest Golf Club is about a 20-minute drive from this caravan park, while Rufford Park Golf Centre is just 10 minutes away. Or maybe a walk round the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve appeals to you? It is only about a 10- or 15-minute drive from this park. If you want to get active, then even closer is Center Parcs Sherwood Forest, while Go Ape! Sherwood is also just 10 minutes from Robin Hood Retreat Caravan Park.

Once an Augustinian priory and also once home to Lord Byron, if you're spending your holidays in this area, you might like to visit Newstead Abbey and its gardens, while Clumber Park, about a 30-minute drive north of this campsite, is a lovely area to enjoy, too. Here you can hire a bike, head to the Discovery Centre, enjoy the peace and quiet of the Chapel, have a cup of tea or coffee in a cafe, or let the children enjoy the play areas.

What a fantastic hideaway this is. The wardens Gary and Sue are so helpful, can't do enough for you, a real assett to the camp. Spotless facilities, a hidden gem. We've booked on for 3 months and some friends are extending their stay too! Even family members have booked into the chalet. So pleased to have stumbled across this haven. Best wishes from the Conisbrough krew. xxx

Just returned from a Easter weekend break at Robin Hood Retreat site and we had a fantastic time.

Location - loads of things to do, great cycling, walking, dog walking, loads of attractions (sherwood pines, Sherwood Forest, wheelgate park, white post farm and loads of outdoor pursuit places) all close by.

Main reason for writing this review was the customer service. We are fairly new to caravanning and wanted to make our first attempt at putting up our awning, something we were dreading. On seeing us struggle Geoff spent a lot of time going through the instructions and helping my husband put it up - and I mean a lot of time as we were pretty useless :) He went way beyond the call of duty and saved us from a big headache which was so appreciated. We also realised we had run out of toilet fluid so he gave us some until we could pop out to replace it. He was so kind and genuine, an absolute delight!

The site has a lovely little play area and is so safe for the children (of all ages) to play. There is a little sweet shop in reception which they love going to spend a few pennies on.

The pitches were a good size and nice and private. It was a lovely sheltered site. It has all the facilities you need and lovely clean toilets and showers.

Agree with other reviews that the access road was the only downside but as soon as you arrived (through a security gate) you forgot about it. Certainly don't let that put you off as this site is well worth a stay. We will certainly be returning (my 4 year old, says it was his favourite site ever!)

We found this campsite only weeks after John and Kerry re-opened the site; we decided we loved it so much, we now store our caravan there and have returned to spend many long weekends pitched at the site. The facilities are basic but clean and well cared for and John and Kerry are working hard to make it better every time we stay! They have a kids play area with swings and slide so our 5 kids meet up with other campers and make friends across the park. It's small enough to be friendly and safe enough to let the kids play! John & Kerry have been more than helpful and we wish them every success with the park.

Just arrived back from a long weekend at this campsite, what can I say........
John and Kerry have taken over the management recently and are doing a fantastic job. This campsite is really family friendly and John and his family cannot do enough for you. We arrived at about lunchtime on saturday the weather was a bit iffy so started to set up, John offered us his help and showed us all the amenities. There is a toilet, showers, a laundry, cold water and an area to wash up. I couldnt believe when I had a shower they provided the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, toilet roll, and even sanitary products. This is brilliant I have never been to a campsite werre this things are provided. I must say thank you to Kerry as she keeps the cleanist toilets in Nottingham LOL. John provided us with leaflets on all the local attractions. We visited Sherwood Pines, Watergate theme park, Newark on Thames the kids had a really good time and there is laods to keep them occupied . Will be going back to this campsite as its clean and well maintained. Thanks for a great weekend John, Kerry and Christopher for all your help with where to go.
