We visited this site for the first time htis weekend. What a really friendly site and the owners were really lovely. The amenities block really did blow me away with the marble decor etc and the showers were first class. Nice walking facilities nearby and a small shop onsite for essentials you may have forgot. The only negative point I have is like many other sites you have to be off site for 12 noon on the sunday which i feel is very unfair if you don't arrive till friday teatime.
: September in 2010My wife and I have just taken delivery of our first caravan, So we decided to try it out for one night to see how things work. After an hairraising journey by satnav found the staff very welcoming and polite. taking pity on us as beginners put us next to the most wonderfully clean shower block i have ever seen, 5* hotels have not got showers like these. the rest of the site we found to be very clean and tidy. the pub down the road was excellent. We have booked again but this time we are taking my mother to show her what 5* living is all about. Would have no hesitation in recomending this site to anyone

had another brilliant time at this fantastic site the toilets are the best we have seen, shame that some mindless idiots decided to take some of the hooks from the toilets and this morning flooded them all the staff have worked very hard to keep things nice for everyone it's a shame that these sought of people are allowed to be members of the caravan club.
we will be back again next year, all the staff were very helpful and pleasant thank you

Wow what can I say. Site is beautiful. Not to big but just nice. Staff very friendly and helpful and theres a nice little on site shop. Theres a large supermarket just up the road and newly refurbished pub just outside of the site. Lots of dog walks too nearby.
Here comes the best bit if your not sold already.
The amenities block. WOW, AMAZING! better than that in a 5* hotel. All Black marble with private vanity cubicles, each shower unit is very big (bigger than my bathroom at home) with a large shower area, sink, toilet and mirror in each one. I was shocked to see how nice they were. Very nice, clean and well layed out. Amazing price too for what you get, even cheaper if your in the camping and caravanning club.
Will definately be visiting here lots. Its also open all year round.

Stayed at this site for a few weekends and will go back many more. For dog owners this has to be one of the best sites around, miles of walks straight opposite the entrance to the site. With a little local knowledge you can walk to Hardwick Hall, the pub there has an excellent menu if a little expensive
The site is a credit to the owners spotlessly clean and the owners are around all the time maintaining the grounds, toilets, emptying bins etc.

This site is a favourite with families and dog owners. Miles of walks through the pretty countryside leave from opposite the entrance. Well placed near the M1, this is an ideal stopping point whether you are heading north or south. The pitches are large and each has its own picnic table and seating; there are also fully serviced pitches. Washrooms, a launderette, a gas exchange and a play area are also provided. The site shop sells camping supplies, basic groceries and locally produced meats for your barbecue.

Practical Motorhome independent site reviews Jan 2007
This site is located in a small, elevated oasis of pretty countryside not far from the M1, making it an ideal stopover whether you’re heading north
or south. The market towns of Chesterfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield are all within easy travelling distance.
It’s also a wonderful park in
its own right. There’s a fantastic sense of space here, with large, beautifully kept pitches arranged in rows around the site’s perimeter, divided by neatly manicured grass. In summer, colourful flower beds enhance the rural setting. Some pitches have their own picnic tables — ideal for relaxing with
an alfresco lunch.
The washroom facilities have won several awards and include
a few private rooms with their own shower, toilet and sink. Best of all, the Holdiat Site Assistants treat all visitors like old friends, and you can’t fail to notice or be impressed by their unstinting efforts to maintain and ensure impeccably high standards.
There’s plenty of good walking available, including Silverhall Country Park opposite the site. Where, on a clear day, you can see across five counties from the highest point in Nottinghamshire.

Practical Caravan Top 100.
There are few occasions when you can accurately use the word ‘pristine’ to describe toilet and shower facilities. But Shardaroba has rightfully earned this accolade. It’s spotlessly clean throughout, and well managed by the owners, Val and John Bennett, and their team of friendly wardens. Each facility in this park, including a shower/bathroom complex, the tourist information chalet, the shop and the safe children’s play area, is maintained to
a very high standard.
There are no leisure facilities on site, but within a couple of miles you have access to fishing, horseriding, and a golf driving range. For those who fancy a spot of retail therapy, the attractive market town of Mansfield is just four miles away. Picnic tables are provided on some of the fields, drinking water and disposal bins are within easy reach of pitches, as is the fire safety equipment.
Dogs are welcome at no extra charge, and they must be kept under control at all times. The park is on high ground, with good views, and has a spacious feel to it.
For caravanners on their way north along the M1, this is an ideal stopping-off place, and for those who wish to explore the local associations with Robin Hood, the park is perfectly located. It will also appeal to walkers since there are many dedicated trails nearby: some more challenging than others.
