If you want to spend time exploring North Yorkshire, Country Park is an ideal base to go and explore the region, no matter what your interests.

It is good to know there's somewhere close by where you can grab any essentials and groceries, and the village of Strensall is just a few minutes away by car along with the shopping outlets Monks Cross & Clifton Moor. Within the village of Strensall there is also a golf course and a few lovely public houses just around the corner from the park.

You're also about 15 minutes outside York, which is useful for larger shops, plus there is a designer outlet just south of the city. If you visit York, there are so many things to do. Go to the magnificent York Minster, get lost in the York Maze, tour the Jorvik Viking Centre, walk along the walls or through The Shambles, head to the National Railway Museum, visit the York Dungeon, the Treasurer's House or the Holgate Windmill, see a show at the Barbican Centre or enjoy a trip up the river. Plus, if you'd like a break from cooking and doing the washing up on your holidays, there are lots of cafes, tearooms, pubs, bars and restaurants in York, so whatever your taste, you're sure to find something to tickle your taste buds.

There are other towns and cities in the area that are well worth exploring on your holidays. Harrogate is about 50 minutes from Country Park by car, the Royal Horticultural Society's Harlow Carr gardens and the Royal Pump Room Museum some of the top sights here. Ripon, with its striking cathedral, is also less than an hour's drive from this touring park, while approximately a 50-minute drive away is Leeds, the city's Kirkstall Abbey, the Royal Armouries Museum, and the architecture and shopping at the Thornton's Arcade some of the highlights here.

If stately homes and gardens take your fancy, you'll find Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall and Gardens both around 20 minutes by car from Country Park, Nunnington Hall about a half hour drive away – and not far from Nunnington Hall is Rievaulx Terrace. Slightly further afield are Fountains Abbey in Ripon, Braithwaite Hall on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and Moulton Hall, which is found just outside Moulton and a little over an hour's drive from Country Park.

Some of the most spectacular natural landscapes in the UK are also found close to this holiday park. The Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the North York Moors National Park sit to the north of Country Park, while to the west are the Yorkshire Dales National Park as well as the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there are a great many opportunities to enjoy walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, water sports and much more.

Whether you're bringing your caravan or your motorhome, you'll be warmly welcomed to Country Park and be assured of a peaceful place in which to spend your holiday.
