Hendre Mawr Caravan Park is a small, charming holiday destination found in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. This attractively landscaped holiday park is found close to the small town of Bala, the park has been rated at five stars by Visit Wales.
All of the holiday homes at Hendre Mawr are privately owned, while there are cottages for hire close by for non-owner guests looking to stay in the area. There are often brand new holiday homes for sale at the park, and sometimes pre-owned holiday caravans for sale. A children’s play park and a laundrette are among the facilities to be found at the site.
The park sits on a green hillside, and offers breathtaking views of the beautiful mountainous countryside and surrounding area. Different types of terrain for walking, cycling, horse riding, mountaineering, walking and more are easily reached from the park, with woodland and lush farmland surrounding the site for miles and stretching out across Snowdonia. The area is popular among nature lovers and birdwatchers, and wildlife enthusiasts can regularly be found relaxing nearby and taking in the landscape.
Guests looking for a challenge when they head outdoors have a choice of peaks to choose from in the area. While Mount Snowdon is the most famous, this is, not surprisingly, busy a lot of the time, so guests often prefer to find one of the lesser known but equally as fun climbs to be found across Snowdonia. Many of the mountains around Snowdonia are accessible on two wheels, and mountain biking is a popular pursuit within the Snowdonia National Park.
Other activities available for guests to enjoy close by include kayaking, fell running, climbing, abseiling, and triathlon. Music festivals, antique fairs, and various other cultural events are also held throughout the year in the area.
Those looking to relax without the adrenaline rush of those activities can easily find a golf course nearby or go fishing in Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid) or in one of the many rivers and streams close to the site. Beautiful Bala Lake is very close to the park and offers a wide variety of water sports, including windsurfing. It also provides an attractive location for an evening stroll beside the water as the sun dips down.
The town of Bala, in North Wales, is small yet lively, and has a bustling market that guests love to use to pick up bargains as well as a wide variety of local produce. Bala also has a number of great shops as well as cafés, pubs, and restaurants.
There are several other towns that are easily reached for a day trip. Towards the coast, guests will find Barmouth and Fairbourne, while further inland Machynlleth and Dolgellau offer historic and attractive town centres for exploring and shopping.
Visit the Bala Steam Railway for a fun experience that all members of the family will enjoy, as is a day at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, which houses both native and international wildlife, as well as having a play park and numerous activities on offer for children. Green Wood Forest Park is another popular family attraction in the area, and is definitely worth a visit.
The owners of Hendre Mawr Caravan Park also own Bala Caravan Park and Chalet Park, which is also a five-star holiday park. Visit both parks if you're interested in buying holiday caravans or chalets in Snowdonia, North Wales.
