Visit Cumbria on your holidays and receive a warm welcome when you pitch at Kendal Caravan Club Site, which is about a 15- or 20-minute drive south of Kendal itself.
The park is open from late March until early November every year, and welcomes both members and non-members of The Caravan Club. It is set in a wonderful region of National Trust woodland, with 140 pitches in total, all of which are hardstanding. Serviced pitches are also available for guests wishing to enjoy the convenience of having electric, water and drainage hook-ups.
Facilities provided at Kendal Caravan Club Site include toilet and shower blocks with parent and baby facilities, a laundrette, a motorhome waste disposal point and Wi-Fi.
If you enjoy fishing, you'll be pleased to discover that the river running through this campsite is a great spot for anglers (in possession of a National River Licence). There are also a range of scenic walks that can be enjoyed across the site, plus this is a good place to stay if you enjoy birdwatching or spotting wildflowers.
Whether you intend to spend your motorhome and caravan holidays in Cumbria or this is a stopping point on a drive north to Scotland or south to the rest of England or maybe Wales, Kendal Caravan Club Site is a delightful and peaceful place to spend time.
As we've said, Kendal itself is a short drive away and as it has supermarkets and shops you can easily top up on your everyday essentials with ease, which is handy when you are self catering. There are also plenty of pubs, cafes, restaurants and takeaways, meaning if you fancy a night off cooking you're spoilt for choice. You might also like to visit Kendal Castle, the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition Centre, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum or maybe the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry.
If you'd like to head to the coast and visit Morecambe, it is just over a half hour drive from Kendal Caravan Club Site, while Skipton and Carlisle are both just over an hour's drive away, and Preston is about a 50-minute drive from this campsite.
However, the reason many people head here for a break is to enjoy holidays in the Lake District – and this campsite is within easy striking distance of this magnificent national park. It's a wonderful region for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Bowness-on-Windermere is about a 20-minute drive from this caravan site and as well as discovering attractions such as the World of Beatrix Potter, you can jump on a boat and enjoy a cruise across Lake Windermere. Continue up the A591 and soon you'll be in Ambleside and then Grasmere, while if you'd like to visit Keswick it's within an hour of this park. Or for something energetic, Go Ape! Grizedale is a 35- to 45-minute drive away.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is also waiting for you to discover it when you're staying at Kendal Caravan Club Site which is sandwiched between these two great, famous national parks. Again, it's a super place if you love walking holidays or getting active on two wheels, but you can also try a wealth of other activities, such as sailing, kayaking, geocaching, pony trekking, fell running and rock climbing.

Very nice site a bit hilly not good for disabled . pitches are hidden in glades among the trees surrounding an old gunpowder factory . and not far from the river. Great walks for the dogs into Kendal. On the whole a very restful site.

We have just returned from a lovely week's stay at Low Park Wood, as with Caravan Club sites the toilets were very clean and other areas of the site were very well maintained. Please note dont as it says in the Caravan Club handbook arrive before 12 noon, due to the very narrow lane and other people leaving the site, we did (our mistake) and met a caravan leaving which resulted in us getting a very frosty reception at reception (deserved to some extent) and me having to reverse the caravan back up the narrow road (uphill) to let a caravan coming out past!
After that hickup we had a lovely stay, our pitch was about level and quite large, but other pitches looked quite small suitable for caravan only and no awning. If you are planning to put an awning up here ensure you have very tough rock pegs the screw in type probably the best, if using normal rock pegs take a lump hammer you will need it!
The shop sold a very limited supply of items and the nearest shops are about 5 miles away, it would be nice with the shops so far away for the onsite shop to carry a few more lines.
The area around Kendal and the Lake District is stunning whatever the time of year but we were very lucky with the weather however I would probably avoid returning to the Lake District at this time of year as it was so busy parking was terrible if not impossible we never did get parked in Grasmere.
Overall a lovely week was enjoyed by all inc the dog, who loved the river running next to the site. I would recommend this site to anyone wanting to explore South Lakes and Kendal and wont hesitate to stay here again.

We have stayed at this site many times now and would not stay anywhere else in the Lakes. It is in a beautiful riverside setting with lovely walks from the site. Kendal is within walking distance. The wardens are excellent and are always very welcoming. The site is very well kept with immaculate toilet blocks. The pitches are spacious and all hard standing. If you're looking for a truly relaxing site, this is it!

WELL! The caravan club has done it again!
The narrow driveway upto reception is a little narrow with passing places but as long as you don't arrive before 12 there shouldn't be a problem. As you drive upto the entrance a babbling river runs at the side all adding to the welcoming you will receive from the friendly wardens. The site is set on an old gunpowder factory and it adds to the romance of the place as nature reclaims back the old building. The shop is stocked well with basics and the pitches are well spaced on different levels. A new toilet block was added in 07 and cleanliness is as excellent as what we have come to expect from Caravan Club sites. The play area was small but very popular with my 9 year old. All this flanked by mature trees and a number of walks leading off from site makes it a wonderful place to stay. A short car ride, or a nice walk up the road and you will find The Strickland Arms that serves fantastic home made food, and its dog friendly too! Also close by is Low Sizergh Barn. This is a working dairy farm, with platforms for little ones to see what happens at milking time, a trail to follow round some of the land and and a farm shop and tea rooms. Simply, lovely!
Kendal is a few miles away and has everything you need including large supermarkets. We spent a day out at the aquarium of the lakes, a big hit with young or not-so young alike. From there we caught a Windermere Lake Cruise up to Bowness. This is magical. The rest of my family didn't want to go on boat until we boarded, and even they agreed it was "cool!"
Can't wait to return.

We go here regularly excellent river walk via sedgewick, wooded site in lots of different levels around an old gunpowder factory, new toilet blocks 07, great location for exploring the lake district or nearby Kendal.

This is our favourite park for the Lake Disctrict. Just a little out of the hustle and bustle but still only a few miles drive to the honeypot areas.
Woodland setting and surrounded by rolling farmland.
Great for kids - they'd probably be as happy staying and playing on site.
