Close to the popular towns of Matlock and Bakewell you’ll discover Lickpenny Touring Park, set in 16 acres of pretty countryside.

This is an award winning campsite. Indeed, it is listed in Caravan Sitefinder, Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome's Top 100 Sites Guide 2014 – and it was in the 2013 edition of this essential camping guide, too. It has also been recognised with a silver David Bellamy Conservation Award, has a four-pennant rating from the AA and four stars from the English Tourism Council. Those who have stayed at this campsite have commended it for its thoughtful landscaping, the wonderful views, the tranquil yet child friendly atmosphere, and the clean, well-maintained facilities.

Open all year round, this campsite in Derbyshire welcomes caravans, trailer tents and motorhomes, but not tents. The 115 large touring pitches here are all hardstanding, to facilitate year round occupation, plus every pitch has a 16A electric hook-up. Despite the size of the pitches, the campsite never feels cramped. In addition, extra large pitches can be booked, too, with water, drainage and electric hook-up connections.

On site services at Lickpenny Touring Park include two heated washrooms with hairdryers, a child/parent bathroom and disabled facilities, as well as a laundry, a heated room for preparing food and washing up, a motorhome waste point, a recycling point, a children’s play area, Wi-Fi and woodland walking paths. This is also a dog friendly campsite and there is a woodland dog walk area. Please remember to keep your dogs on a lead at all times. In addition, Calor Gas bottles can be exchanged at this campsite.

If you fancy visiting Matlock, you can leave your vehicle on site and catch a bus that stops near the park. Also within driving distance are the popular and historic attractions of Bolsover Castle, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Chatsworth House.

Set in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, the Peak District is within easy distance of Lickpenny Touring Park to the west, Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve a little further away, to the east of this site, while Darwin Forest Country Park is also nearby. Whether you like going on two-footed or two-wheeled adventures, there will be plenty to keep you busy in the Peak District, both in terms of guided tours or if you want to find your own way.

Fancy a round of golf? There are a number of golf clubs in the area, including Bakewell Golf Club, Matlock Golf Club and Shirland Golf Club. And if you want a break from cooking on your motorhome and caravan holidays, there are lots of country pubs in the region, just waiting for you to discover. In addition, Scotland Nurseries Garden Centre is just over the road from Lickpenny Touring Park and as well as selling plants and garden items, there's a cafe and restaurant, a farm shop, and a chocolate shop and cafe that many visitors to the area might simply find impossible to resist!

So if you're looking to spend your motorhome and caravan holidays in Derbyshire, you'll be assured a warm welcome and a peaceful stay at Lickpenny Touring Park, which is also conveniently located to help you get the most from your trip to the area.

First impressions of this site were good. Pitches were lovely, (although the hedges were too high for me, but that's just my personal taste). When I came to use the showers at about 7pm, whilst they were clean, I found the building well below an acceptable temperature. In fact it was just 11 degrees and the temperature of the water was not much higher. It was extremely unpleasant and I think I had the quickest shower ever!! I decided the following day to speak to the owners/wardens, not in an effort to complain but to inform them of the issues in case they were not aware. What a mistake that was, the owner John basically told us that he was not prepared to change anything. He would not leave the heating on, it apparently came on at 5pm for a few hours but that was it and if we didn't like it go somewhere else. I couldn't believe how rude he was. He didn't care at all about making his customers happy, he said as long as the block is "aired" that's good enough for him. That's ok cos he didn't have to shower in there!! I have never met such a horrid little man in my whole life!! Needless to say we demanded a refund and went to a local CAMC site that had a toasty shower block with hot showers but even more importantly .....polite staff who went out of the way to make their campers happy!

On arriving at this site, the first thing you notice is the openess and the far reaching views across the surrounding countryside.........Situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, Lickpenny is a 16 acre site surrounded by trees and wonderful scenery..... There are well over 100 available pitches plus seasonals. Each pitch is individual and surrounded by shrubs and bushes....... All have 16amp hook ups and are Hard Standings...... Also available are a no of extra large deluxe pitches , with own water, drainage and electricity........ All the pitches are spacious and allow for a large caravan and car with ease, with plenty of room to spare.......There are 2 amenity blocks, complete with showers , toilets and laundry facilities...... A Disabled/Family room with shower is available in both blocks........The site also provides a woodland area for dog walking, and a huge playing field with apparatus for children..... There is a lovely woodland walk leading directly from the site, this is well signposted and takes you past a lovely Garden Centre, which also provides snacks and lunches............ Matlock is only 3 miles away, and the site is also a handy base for Chatsworth and Bakewell.........We really love this site and will be going back many times..........

This is a wonderfull site with large individual hard standing pitches all seperated with plants, shrubs or tress. The owners are freindly and the park is kept clean and tidy. The shower block, pot wshing and laundry rooms are spacious and again clean and tidy.
The super pitches have there own water and have excellent vies over the surrounding countryside. There is a lovely garden centre with a cafe/resurant just round the corner which also boasts a wonderful chocolate shop.
If you visit this site you will not be disapointed.
