This was our first camping experience and we used this place as an opportunity to road test both our tent and the children's attitude toward spending time in the great outdoors.
Naturally, I had reservations. An unknown site. An unknown part of the world. Untried and untested facilities.
Everything about this place more than fulfilled our expectations. It's clean and tidy. The pitches, especially those at the top end of the field, are snooker table flat and are afforded some protection from the elements by high, and yet not too imposing, tree lines and bushes. The toilets are well maintained and clean with piping hot running water and never more than 100 meters away if you're pitched at the furthest point away.
'John' the sitemanager and his family are on site and provide a personal and sincere touch making sure that each and every person's needs and wants have been serviced. The local farming community all pass the time of day with pleasant conversation and even allowed my children to feed the pet lambs situated nearby. The site is surrounded by beautiful and peaceful walks through woods and pathways filled with abundant wildlife photgraphic opportunities.
We had never 'camped' before and we were amazed at the level of apparent 'friendliness' of our fellow campers. Everybody respected each others privacy and noise was kept to an absolute minimum. There is no club house on site, which can often promote a loutish behaviour, in fact, it was as near to perfection (for our needs at least) that we could hope to find.
The 'pods' are a great idea if you don't want the hassle of pitching your own tent - something we may consider in the future.
The weather was kind too. What more can a person ask for!?
