Hi all
I have had many GPS units over the years. Started out with a PDA and Blue Tooth receiver, then on to stand alone units as of today’s types, I use one for work which is all singing & dancing, Blue tooth, Hands Free phone, TMC, with full EU maps. This is used on a daily bases, with work.
My new one is not so sophisticated, only has TMC (Traffic Messaging Channel, Radio info pick up, which gives you road conditions, accidents and can re route you)? I use it when touring with caravan in Europe. Loaded Poi’s such as CC sites, most of the modern ones come with 85% CC Poi’s.
None of this sending me up tracks, it’s all down to how YOU set it up. In the end you have the final say, if it tells you to turn left or right and you can see grass growing in the middle of the track are you that stupid to follow it, as it will always get you back on track if you either have made an error or you made a conscious decision not to take the route it plotted?
One unfortunate thing is the maps are always about 12 to 18 months behind, even if you opt for the latest map up date? They build and modify roads, faster than the map makers can keep up with? And that goes for any make GPS.
Regards.
