Thetford Forest Caravan Club Site (formerly called The Covert Caravan Club Site) is a beautiful family and pet friendly holiday park found a short distance from the famous Thetford Forest Park, the largest lowland pine forest in Britain. The caravan park is set in its own secluded area of charming woodland. It is open from late March until early November and welcomes members and non-members of the Caravan Club.

Thetford Forest Caravan Club site has 83 pitches for touring caravans available, with 39 hard standings on offer. The park also offers storage for up to 20 touring caravans, convenient for guests looking to stay at the Thetford Forest site numerous times throughout the season.

There is no toilet block on the site, but there is a chemical waste disposal point available for all guests to use during their stay. Other facilities include Wi-Fi internet, and a dog walking area. The surrounding woodland paths and trails are also excellent for dog walking.

Thetford Forest Caravan Club Site is a wonderful place for a family break. From the campsite, you can walk straight into the woodland, where the park is based. It is looked after by the Forestry Commission, and offers several nature trails, both into Thetford Forest itself as well as towards the surrounding areas. This part of Norfolk is famous for its woodland and lush countryside, and guests will be able to explore it fully during their holiday.

Within the forest, there is a memorial area dedicated to the Desert Rats, giving a flavour of life in this part of East Anglia during World War II.

The area is also renowned for its wildlife, and wild deer can often be spotted on or close to the park during the early morning, though guests are likely to encounter them through the day if they’re planning to explore the area.

Thetford Forest Caravan Club Site is also close to the famous Norfolk market town of Swaffham. Pretty little Swaffham is a great place to spend the day, and its Georgian architecture means there are some unique and exciting buildings to photograph. The market is held on a Saturday and is a great place to pick up some local produce and other bargains. Culture lovers will enjoy Swaffham’s museums, one of which has an exhibition dedicated to Howard Carter – the archaeologist who discovered the tomb of Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun and who was born in Swaffham.

King’s Lynn is famous for its shopping outlets and can be easily driven to from the park, while it also has plenty of places of historical interest, too. Norwich is also popular with history lovers and is a fast changing modern city, with great restaurants and shops as well as several traditional outlets at which to spend a day.

Thetford itself was the Saxon capital of this area, in the 10th Century, and long before that this land was ruled by warrior Queen Boudicca, of the Iceni tribe.

Many guests choose to take the car and explore the other market towns and villages found around Norfolk, which populate the countryside as well as the coastal areas. All of these have local businesses and country pubs serving locally sourced produce, and are often the gateway to exceptional countryside walks themselves.

The seaside resorts of East Anglia like Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth should also be explored, while those happy to drive a little further should check out Colchester and it's brilliant zoo.

Thetford Forest Caravan Club Site is an amazing location for a quiet family break and comes as a highly recommended destination.
