After 9 hour journey the arrival at Lakeside was a welcome site. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the new wardens and shown to promised pitch location (right next to lake).Unfortuantely your caravan has to be positioned with the back of the caravan towards the lake so the view from your van is towards other caravans rather than the pleaseant view of the lake.
Our stay at Lakeside was for two weeks and, having booked from the internet, we were pleased with our selection. The site is, as previous reviewer stated, a quite site and adults only. The toilets are clean with other facilites up to an acceptable standard. Having a dog we were surprised that we were not allowed to walk the dog around the lake and had to use the caravan storage area to exercise the dog. Our stay was very enjoyable and the fishing was excellent with both caravaners and day fisherman bagging good catches.
Site does sell some fishing bait and expect the new wardens will increase the stock variety. Paying for fishing (£6 a day for those staying at the site) is made using an envelope system but was annoyed to have to pay £5 if you had been out for the day and only wanted to fish in the evening which was from 4.00pm to 7.30pm with only £6 for a full day.
There are a few seasonal caravans, position to the rear of the site, and many of the tourers were folk who kept their vans in storage at Lakeside and visited at weekends.
The village of Pocklington is only 4 miles away and has numerous shops including Sainsburys and Aldi as well as a cinema. You have to go to York for any fishing tackle (I recommend York Tackle - 10 miles). There are numerous pubs in the area which serve food.
Overall an excellent stay with everyone on site (both wardens and fellow caravanners)very friendly. We do plan to return for another stay in the future and certainly recommend this site if you like a quite site and fishing.

Ideal for anglers, but pretty good for anybody wanting a quiet weekend break in the van, Lakeside Caravan Park is a nicely kept site set around a handsome six-acre fishing lake.
I visited in December 2008 on a very crisp, cold day and the site looking great. I was in one of the few hardstanding pitches overlooking the lake, to the left of the reception building as you enter. The washrooms were warm, clean and well equipped and the wooden reception building looked new and kept a modest stock of essentials so you don't need to go into town if you need a pint of milk. The site is an adult-only facility and day visitors are allowed onto the site to fish, but they don't really come that near to the touring caravans and have their own toilet and changing facilites.
If you are the sort of person who is happy to read, sit outside the van, take a gentle stroll and generally make your entertainment, this is a nice little site. If you like to fish, it is great.
