Visit North Yorkshire on your motorhome and caravan holidays and if you like a small campsite, why not pitch at Orcaber Farm.
This is site is a CS, which stands for Certificated Site. This means it has a permit from The Camping and Caravanning Club, allowing five motorhomes or caravans to stay here at a time, plus tents. These are exclusively for the use of members of The Camping and Caravanning Club, but you can join the club on site and they are very affordable options.
Orcaber Farm CS is a dog friendly and family friendly campsite which sits on the south western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is open all year round.
This is a relatively new CS that opened in August 2013. Orcaber Farm looks incredibly smart and well maintained, with the owners investing both time and money into making the site look and feel attractive, colourful hanging baskets used to marvellous effect.
There are four showers and toilets, with separate men's and ladies' facilities, to the rear of the site. You'll also find hairdryers here, plus there's a fresh water point, chemical toilet disposal, a recycling point and a place to wash your dishes. A gravel access track leads to a choice of hardstanding or grass pitches benefiting from electric hook-ups, with separate areas for tourers and tents, some spaciously open, others sheltered by the neighbouring woodland.
There are views onto open farmland, the Forest of Bowland and the western Yorkshire Dales. The pretty village of Austwick is a mile away from Orcaber Farm CS and has a shop and a pub, the Game Cock, which is renowned locally for its excellent food, meaning you can keep your holiday essentials well stocked and have a night off from cooking, both without needing to travel too far from your pitch – very handy.
This site is in a perfect location if you like walking holidays, as it's on the border between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These are also great places to enjoy cycling and off-road mountain biking. Maybe go horse riding or pony trekking, or try felling running, rock climbing, geocaching and caving. Or take to the air and see this beautiful region from a different perspective when paragliding or hang gliding. Water based pursuits are also available in this area, such as sailing, windsurfing and canoeing.
And there's more! Stay at Orcaber Farm CS on your motorhome tours or camping and caravan holidays and you're under an hour's drive from Windermere in the heart of the Lake District. You can also get to Morecambe within an hour, so you can enjoy time on the coast, too.
So you can visit the Lake District, see the sea and visit the Peak District from this central location, but if you want to go somewhere more substantial, again, you're spoilt for choice. Lancaster is about a 45-minute drive away, Burnley is just under an hour away, and both Bradford and Harrogate are just over an hour's drive away.
