Cleanliness, facilities, friendliness, space, peace & quiet - all excellent.
I have never been to a site that was exactly as it portrayed itself and more. The photographs in the brochure and on the website are a true representation of what the site is like – none of this ‘take a picture with just a few ‘vans when we normally cram them in’ mentality. What you see really is what you get!
It’s the little things that impressed us the most: from hand wash by the dog bins and chemical disposal point, the encouragement to recycle as much as possible, to the most wonderful new facilities block. I have experienced disabled facilities before where the provision of a rickety old stool that I wouldn’t trust to handle my wash bag is the sum provision that designates a disabled shower stall. The new facilities are fantastic! There is more than enough room to swing a cat, whilst still in your wheelchair and a shower seat that felt comfortable, substantial and secure.
The wardens were always helpful and it felt like nothing was ever too much trouble. You could guarantee a smiling face at reception or out around the site, no matter what time of day
The only thing I would say is don't expect to lose any weight because of all the walking available direct from the site.. the calories burned are quickly replaced (and a little bit more) by sampling the divine homemade cakes that are available every day! The shop, although small, has just about all the essentials you would need having forgotten that one last ingredient and they don't charge the earth just for the convenience. You have got to sample the home bred meats - I can highly recommend the rump steak for a BBQ.. it was just melt in the mouth. They also offer a 'bread run' where you tell them the day before what loaf you want and they fetch it freshly baked in the morning from Burns the Bread, the local bakery. We didn't avail ourselves of the minibus service, but that runs regularly and looked reasonably priced
I think what we liked the most about this site is that it's adults only - when one of you works in a school, any holiday is like a busman's holiday if the site is full of 'feral children'. This site is full of calm, respectful people, some friendlier than others, but you get that on any site, they just need to understand that it is OK to say good morning to a total stranger!!
In all our years of holidays, both camping and more recently caravanning, we have never booked next year's holiday before we left because we liked the feel of the site so much.. but that's what we've done this year, so we're now on a countdown to our return!
We cannot recommend The Old Oaks enough!

We have stayed on this site several times and its by far the best site we've ever stayed on. The wardens are friendly and helpful. There is a well stocked shop of not only caravan bits and bobs but also food. The site is beautiful and the pitches are the largest we have ever found. Not only that but the views too are beautiful and lots to do in the surounding area.

We have stayed at this site many times and it is one of our favourites. Every time we go the owners have made more improvements. The majority of pitches are now hard-standing and quite a few are full service with waste and water.

Pitches are a good size and separated by shrubs which gives a bit of privacy. The owners and wardens are very friendly and always around if required. An additional new toilet block is to be added during the winter which is good as the current one does get a bit crowded when the site is full.

Nice pubs around the area, details in Reception, we tried the Camelot Inn which was very good.

The surrounding area and the views from the site are excellent and peace and quiet are the norm. Lots to see and do in the area details of which can be found in the Tourist Information room on site.

Staff friendly and helpful. Facilities spotlessly clean. Gardens well maintained. Very peaceful site with no noise whatsoever. Excellent fishing pond. On site shop sells basics and also home made fresh cream cakes and fresh bread. You can also order your newspapers.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

The site is set deep in the Somerset countryside but close enough to many attractions. The entrance ensures you have booked the tranquil quiet site you wanted, the friendly welcome confirms this.
All pitches are flat and have plenty of room for caravan, awning, car and room to relax in.
The showers and toilets are spotless and cleaned regularly, the elsan point is equally well keep, with a hand cleanser on the tiled wall.
All pitches are individual with good planting seperating each pitch. There are good walks from the site, and the Old Oaks are adjacent to the site on a footpath.
Dogs are welcome and the dog run is safe, enclosed, with hand cleanser on the gate, there is even a dog shower.
The on site fishing is superb, a short walk from most pitches, and very reasonably priced.
This site is for adults only and if you want a quiet holiday this site is for you

Well here we are, back after a lovely restful week at the Old Oaks. We pitched at an all-serviced pitch on the circle. The plots are very roomy and every caravan had it's privacy.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful - know alot about the local areas. The shop is well stocked and there is a pc for internet use if required.

My husband's a keen fisherman and was really pleased with his efforts at the pool - it's well stocked with carp, tench, perch and roach.

The WC/Showers are kept spotlessly clean as are the grounds.

It's a site we'll be going back to.

My wife and I have recently returned from five days here-wish it had been longer. The site is beautiful with first class facilities. The pitches are large we have a twenty foot tent and a car and there was masses of space. The shop is well stocked with all the basics. There is a lovely little pond which can be fished for around £2.50 a day. It is great walking country beng .75 mile from the tour (beware the hills are killers). If you get the chance to visit don't delay its great.

Just returned from 5 days at this fantastic site. We have been to many sites over the years and this was by far the best in terms of pitches, cleanliness and peace & quiet! The only thing that could improve this site would be a pub a short walk away. Nearest pub 40 mins walk and a bit hairy walking back in the pitch dark - don't forget your torch!! Glastonbury has some great bars and live bands every Friday & Saturday. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic site. Owners lovely and friendly. Sites facilities NEVER experienced so clean before or since. Sally and Jim are lovely people and are always there for helpful advice and a friendly face.

A gorgeous location really peaceful. Fellow campers appreciate the location and respect the facilities.

All together a great site have had our custom for the past 4 years and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Dog walk available with a shower for the dirty dogs pitches are a great size and you never encroach on other campers.

By far one of the best parks we have stayed at in 30 years caravanning. Quiet location with glorious views. Friendly staff. Great not to hear screaming kids at daybreak ! Don't change anything - leave it exactly like it is and we'll be back
