Owner's description
Broadway House Holiday Park is one of the best camping sites in Somerset. The park has hundreds of pitches that welcome tents, motorhomes, and caravans, with 70 of these fully serviced for travellers who want to enjoy their stay with the utmost comfort and convenience. In addition, there are 40 holiday homes that are available for hire, all clean, well-equipped, and ready to take care of all of your holiday needs.
The park is situated a short distance outside the town of Cheddar, on the outskirts of Cheddar Wood. There is much to do at Broadway House Holiday Park, from a BMX track for bike enthusiasts, to a heated swimming pool, crazy golf, and an amusement arcade. A large restaurant and bar facility on site means that everything you need can be found at Broadway House and you never have to venture away should you wish not to do so.
However, there is so much going on in the surrounding area that you would be missing out if you decided to stay at Broadway House all day, every day.
The park offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and Cheddar Reservoir, which will immediately give you two things to explore and add to your ‘to do’ list. The Mendip Hills are also on the doorstep, so whether you want to discover the best of the local area on foot or by mountain bike and even on horseback, you will have the opportunity to do so.
There are dozens of small villages set in this rural heartland, while if you are looking for larger towns you are within easy reach of the M5, which will help you head to Weston-super-Mare or Bristol, as well as giving access to miles of beautiful coastline.
Broadway House is a great destination with so much going on, and is an excellent base for getting out and exploring the surrounding areas.

just got back from this site and it has been took over and i was pleased with what i found, the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful, the pitches were very clean and spacious, the toilet/shower blocks were cleaned numerous times a day and never short of hot water and loo rolls, they even smelt fresh everytime you went in, the bar/restaurant, we were greeted with happy smiling faces, the food was excellent and served quickly. there was a lot of children on site and they were having a great time on the bmx & skateboard tracks there was also a big park for them to play in. i would recomend this site and we will certainly be back

2 adults & 2 children Aug 2008 1 wk stay £214.00 + £14.00 extra to upgrade to premier pitch
Wasn't overimpressed with the site on the whole really. It was a busy time being the summer holidays (ok rainy holidays!) and feel that the site was pretty overcrowded and a bit like a sardine in a tin. The entrance in with a caravan doesn't give you much space to pull over and join the long queue at reception to book in, other people were beeping us along which adds to the stress of getting there towing a caravan in the first place.
The BMX park my son really enjoyed and the smaller skateboard ramps were fully used by all with skateboards and their bikes.
The pool did look inviting - sadly the weather didn't so we did not venture in. Only the one outside pool and thought the info was a bit misleading with their being an inside one - there isnt!
The pitches are quite compact, enough room for your caravan and awning and parking your car in front at an angle, bit awkward on a busy park with lots of cars and children - could be a bit better thought out. The pitches are all on a slope as the whole site gradients up the hill - YOU WILL NEED LEVELLING BLOCKS!! (and a good handbrake on your caravan)
The food in the hatchway by the pub was a bit of a let down - overcooked chips and the burgers looked very sad for themselves - glad we only tried it the once - could have been an off day for the chef but the jury is out on that one.
The showers were plentiful and clean, still felt a bit greasy after showering though. Separate shower/loo's at the back of the main block for when the main ones are closed for cleaning, ideal if you like a bit more privacy too.
Large standing freezer by the toilet block for putting your ice blocks in and BBQ food if you wanted to trust no-one to take it! Thought this was a good idea and only saw it towards the end of our week.
Quite a busy and noisy site on the whole, bad luck that we had the caravan that wanted to party til 2am every night backing on to us, with no respect for other people on the site.
Be prepared for a busy site that can be quite noisy into the small hours (especially if you have kids that don't settle too easily) and they run out of Sun newspapers quite early in the day!

Broadway House Holiday Caravan & Camping Park, Cheddar, Somerset
2 Adults, 2 Kids (aged 8 and 16) 1 dog on Premier pitch (Water/Waste/Ariel) £208 for 7 nights.
On arrival we found this site to be very pleasant, we were greeted warmly by 'Sonny' the parrot! Checked in with ease, staff were friendly.
As we were on a premier pitch we were a fair way from the reception area, toilets, chemical disposal and pool, not that we minded as we were nice and close to the dog walk.
(If you decided on a premier pitch you may need 7meters of hose pipe, 7meters waste pipe as the hook ups are at the rear of the pitch.)
We noticed that most pitches had their own water supply. Pitches were set out with lots of space for car and awning, and all pitches are separated with hedging for privacy.
Most pitches are uneven but only slightly, You will need wheel blocks! Ground on our pitch got a little flooded when it rained as it was sloping.
Toilet/Shower blocks were clean and tidy, showers were the kind you have to keep pressing the button to keep the water flowing, also they had separate drying area.
Shop was very well stocked with all you could possibly need.
Didn’t use the pub but they had a few things going on over the bank holiday.
I would highly recommend this site for families as there is lots to do for the children, BMX park is a MUST but do take the safety equipment or you can't use it!
Great base for Cheddar/Weston/Brean so lots to do!
I would definitely go back to this park again.

This site is well placed for visiting local attractions around Somerset, especially Chedder Gorge, which is just down the road. But it also has plenty to keep you and your family entertained on site, from swimming and paddling pools to a fully-equipped games room. The
BMX track, crazy golf, adventure play area and football courts are icing on the cake. A well-stocked shop, gas exchange and battery service are
also on site. Many pitches have
hedges for privacy and all have
good access to the washroom and laundry facilities.

There’s so much to do at Broadway House it’s hard
to know where to start. From mountain biking to climbing and archery to skateboarding there’s enough to keep even the most active family busy.
After a hectic day enjoying all those activities you’ll no doubt be feeling tired. Back at your caravan you’ll soon discover that Broadway House is a great place to unwind, too. You feel close to nature, as the pitches are on the south face of the beautiful Mendip Hills and just a mile or so from Cheddar Gorge and Caves. The views are worth the price of
a pitch on their own.
Although this is a busy site in high season, there are enough toilet and shower facilities to prevent long queues. With all
the other provisions, including laundrette and on-site shop, you could be forgiven for spending the whole of your holiday at Broadway House.
If you’d like some culture and history to balance the adventure and excitement on site, then the city of Wells – England’s smallest city – is less than 10 miles away. The stunning cathedral is a highlight of any visit to this wonderful part of Somerset.
Families who want to pack
as much into their holiday as possible should put Broadway House close to the top of their list of sites for 2007.

The only problem you’ll
have if you visit Broadway House is deciding between the on-site or off-site entertainment. Even the most active children will be kept busy by the array of activities available, including shooting and archery fields as well as BMX and skateboarding parks. There’s certainly more entertainment here than on
your average touring park.
Young children will love the farm animals here, which they can pet in their pens. Older kids can take courses in climbing, abseiling, canoeing, zip-wiring, caving and hot-air ballooning.
You’ll feel close to nature here, since the pitches are set on a terrace on the south face of the Mendips. Only one mile from Cheddar Gorge, Broadway’s views across the Isle of Avalon are worth the admission alone.

If you want to stay at a large park in the West Country with lots of entertainment facilities for young and old, you should head for Broadway House.
There are 300 numbered touring pitches: 100 are hard-standing, and 200 are grass, set on eight gently sloping terraces on the south face of the Mendips.
In high season, the number of grass pitches can be increased by a further 150, by opening up another field. Only one mile from Cheddar Gorge, Broadway's views across the Isle of Avalon from the upper terraces alone are worth the entry fee. A path through the woods above the site leads to two observation platforms offering even better views.
The list of activities available to users is extensive, from a shooting and archery field to the BMX and skateboarding parks. You can take the children to see the animals: on show are llamas, donkeys, goats and parrots, all in pens on site, or you can book courses in climbing, abseiling, canoeing, caving, zip-wiring and hot-air ballooning.
A complex featuring an eat-in or take-away restaurant, bar and disco hall is located near the reception, close to the heated outdoor pool. All facilities are built in a rustic, wooden style, which compliments the surroundings well. The two main sanitary blocks are well maintained, although a little stretched during high season; the first building has recently been extended to cope.
At the bus stop just outside the front gate you can catch an hourly bus to Weston-Super-Mare and its beaches, or the beautiful little city of Wells and its ancient cathedral and bishop's palace. The caves at Wookey Hole are also close by. The site is popular with families so it can get a little noisy during high season.
Dog owners please note: Rottweilers and Pit-bull terriers are not welcome.
