Practical Motorhome independent site reviews Nov 2006

This adults-only site is easily found on the A489 between Craven Arms and Newtown.
It’s close to the historic market town of Bishop’s Castle, and sits in a lovely valley surrounded by the Welsh and Shropshire hills. The entrance is well signposted and wide enough for large ‘vans.
This beautifully landscaped site has been planned with great care. It is split into three areas with enough corners, hedges and shrubs to give it an intimate, enclosed feel. The large pitches are well-spaced and are mostly gravel hardstanding. They are also fully serviced, providing electric hook-up, water and drainage, while most of them also have TV aerial points.
The centrally situated facilities building features six individual heated washrooms, each with a shower and a toilet. Couples can use these together, as they would a personal bathroom, and there is full access for the disabled.
There are also two washrooms with basins, a launderette and a drying room with racks and hooks for boots and coats. The condition of these rooms and the quality of the fixtures and fittings are superb, and they are a real credit to the owners. Daisy Bank has won the Loo of the Year award several times.
This site offers tranquillity, excellent facilities and very friendly owners who take the utmost care to provide an enjoyable holiday for their guests. No wonder it gets so busy at peak times. Remember to book well in advance.

Practical Motorhome Independent Site Reviews.

This adults-only site is set in a sweeping valley surrounded by the hills of Shropshire and Wales. The site owners, June Spurgeon and Colin Wheeler, work tirelessly to maintain the high standards that you'll find here. All visitors receive a warm welcome and are personally shown to their allocated pitch.
The gently sloping park has three touring areas: 'Roundton', where most of the pitches are separated by small mature shrubs and hedges; 'Camlad', where the pitches are more open; and, at the bottom of the site, 'The Meadow', which has undergone substantial refurbishment. All but four pitches are now hardstanding, and all are fully serviced. This includes water, drainage and electric hook-up, together with a plug-in TV aerial (cable supplied) on each pitch. Every pitch has its own special view, and adequate space has been left between adjacent caravans. Such attention to detail ensures that you'll have a relaxing visit.
Being open all year, the site attracts a regular clientèle from the West Midlands, but others travel longer distances just to enjoy the magnificent setting and high standards. Recently, the first-class toilet block was inspected under the 'Loo of the Year' Award scheme and has been upgraded to a five-star rating. There are no 'communal' toilets, and access to individual shower and toilets rooms for less able visitors is excellent.
You won't find a noisy club house or wild parties at Daisy Bank, but you will find a warm welcome, excellent pitches and toilet facilities, and the chance to switch off from the pressures of day-to-day life.

The first-class toilet building was named Loo of the Year in 2004 for caravan and holiday parks in Wales, and has been upgraded to a five-star rating. There are no ‘communal’ toilets here, and the access to individual toilets and shower-rooms for disabled caravanners is excellent.
You won’t find a noisy clubhouse or any wild parties here. What you will find is a warm welcome, excellent pitches and toilet facilities, and the opportunity to switch off from the pressures of day-to-day life – which, after all, is what everyone wants on holiday.

Practical Caravans Top 100 Parks Awards 2003

Daisy Bank is in the Marches area, on the Welsh/Shropshire border, and is an adults-only site, so perfect for those looking for peace and quiet. Nearby you will find Offa’s Dyke, the ancient border between Wales and England, which is one of the most famous walks in this area.

There are 40 pitches, costing between £13 and £15, depending on the season, which are predominantly hardstanding, and each pitch is fully serviced, at no additional cost, including awning, draining, electricity and hot water. This year, the park hopes to open new pitches in the Camlad Valley area, but these will probably be unserviced. The toilet blocks have recently been refurbished, offering facilities which picked up the loo of the year award last year. There is also full disabled access.

This site is also open all year round, allowing you to enjoy the splendid views and the magnificent scenery any time you wish.
You can enjoy a round of mini-golf on-site, as well as golfing and swimming, all to be found nearby. As well as enjoying the local walks, there are plenty of other things to see and do in the area, including the Roundton Hill nature reserve, which is very popular with nature enthusiasts and is just a stone’s throw from Daisy Bank.

Holidaymakers interested in history can visit the nearby castles of Powys, Dolforwyn and Montgomery, and there is also an opportunity to sample the local flavour at Bishops Castle, famous for its real ale brewery. Across the English border, into Shropshire, you can visit the 1,000-year old market town of Shrewsbury and take a cruise along the Rivern Severn, which runs through the town.
