Old Brick Kilns Caravan and Camping Park

Fakenham, Norfolk

A warm welcome awaits you at The Old Brick Kilns, a campsite in North Norfolk, just 8 miles from the coast. Sitting a short distance off the A148 that runs between Holt and Fakenham, it is well connected and the perfect base from which to explore the area.

It is an award-winning caravan and camping park and is proud to have been regional winner of the Top 100 Sites Guide in 2017 and 2018. This go-to guide for campsites in the UK is compiled every year by the expert teams at Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome magazines and this website, Caravan Sitefinder, with a view to bringing the best campsites in the UK together in one place. Our 5 star facilities make it popular with all visitors who return year after year.

Set in 13 acres of picturesque Norfolk countryside, the park is set on three levels and has a spacious, rural feel to it. There are 60 all-weather, hardstanding servied pitches and also five premier pitches in an area of the campsite that is also a Caravan Club Certificated Location.

The pathways around the park are suitable for wheelchair users, so access is good for those who are disabled (we have disabled washroom facilities too). The washroom areas have underfloor heating, showers, wash basins, hand and hair dryers and toilets. In the ladies' facilities you will also find a baby changing area and a baby bath; the male areas have razor points. .

There is plenty to keep you busy during your time at The Old Brick Kilns. We have a TV room, table tennis, a pool table, a fenced children's play area, a family games area and even a giant chess set. You can enjoy good food and a drink in Barney's Restaurant & Bar (open Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun) and there is Wifi across the site. In addition, we have a small fishing lake stocked with carp, bream, rudd and tench; £3/day; £7/3 days £15/week. We are also proud of our landscaped garden and wild flower areas and our bird hide where you can view a great variety of visiting birds.

For those who prefer a few home comforts, we also have B&B rooms available (1x Twin, 1x Double, 1x Single), all with en-suite facilities as well as a one-bedroomed cottage on the park; We also have 3 other cottages that sleep 6 & 4, ideal for extended family visits (within 100m).

We have just returned from our annual visit to this lovely site and have once again been really impressed with this years improvements. John & Alison have built a great bird hide, where the whole family enjoyed spying on not only lots of chaffinches but woodpeckers and a nuthatch, rabbits and a squirrel ! Well done, my kids think all campsites should be as good as yours.

This was our first time ever caravaning and we couldn't have picked a better site. Clean, excellent facilities, very peaceful and quiet even with lots of children on site. Large pitches and open space around the site gave us lots of privacy. Can't wait to return.

I have been visiting this site for over 20 years and never found a better one. It has it all; delightful, tranquil setting, easy access to the coast and countryside, generous well-equipped pitches, unfailing cleanliness and a restaurant offering a wide and delicious menu. These things are made extra special by the efficient, friendly attention of John and Alison Strahan, the owners, who make every visit a pleasure.

This is a fairly large Park, which has been landscaped to feel quite cosy and private. Our pitch was very large, but others did not seem quite so generous. I also noticed that for some pitches you had to drive across the grass to get to it, so I do not know how that would be if there had been a sustained downpour.

There are two toilet/shower blocks, both were clean and had heating on when we were there, and it was August Bank Holiday week so very busy. We sampled the on-site restaurant on 'Fish and Chip' night and the food was lovely. There is a play area, information hut, shop, a fishing pond and a lovely walk around the park.

The owners were friendly and the booking in was efficient. One negative point is that £1 per visitor to the site is charged, even for toddlers. I am originally a Norfolk girl and so I had a few family members to visit for the evening over to course of our stay, this bumped up the site fees for us. However, I was slightly happier about the charging when I realised the money for that went to charity.

It is a well placed base to explore the North Norfolk coast. We went to Holkham Beach, a famous beach featured in 'Shakespeare in Love' and pop videos! It is gorgeous, but be warned on two counts, it is an incredible 1/2 hour walk (with toddlers in tow) from the car park to the shore front and there are very limited facilities for food. However, it is an unspoilt beach!

Nearby Holt provides a station for the Sheringham to Holt steam railway, and is a lovely Georgian market town worthy of a wander in its own right.

Sandringham and Norfolk Lavender are also within easy driving distance.

In summery I would visit this site again.

We have used this site on many occasions over the last few years, the owners changed a while ago and they have made vast improvements to the site especially the fishing pond area.
The pitches are large and the site in general is quiet, the on site shop is quite good but could be improved, their is a restaurant on site and the food is excellent, finally the toilet/shower blocks are excellent and you would be hard pushed to find better.

Dear Trevor, Thankyou for your positive and constructive comments. We are interested in your ideas on how the shop could be improved, bearing in mind we are restricted by the size of the premises.
