Hill of Oaks Lodge and Caravan Park is an award-winning park with five stars from Visit England, as well as a five-pennant rating from the AA and David Bellamy Gold Award.

Set in the picturesque Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hill of Oaks features an exclusive lake frontage location with stunning views across Lake Windermere. Perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday in the Lake District.

Choose from a wide range of self-catering accommodation including lake view apartments, lodges, cottages, lakeside and woodland glamping pods, safari tents plus the exclusive Waterbird Boathouse. Dog-friendly holidays are also available.

There's a dedicated seasonal touring area that has great facilities for seasonal touring caravans and awnings. You'll find an accessible toilet and shower block, washing up and laundry areas, and a recycling point. All seasonal touring pitches are hard standing and feature an electric hook-up and water, and some have grey waste drainage. (Please note, seasonal touring pitches are fully reserved for the 2022 season, 1st March – 31st October.)

During the main summer season, the Windermere Lake Cruises public ferry service stops off at the main jetty most mornings for you to climb aboard and explore the Lakes from Lakeside Pier. (Currently suspended)

In addition, Hill of Oaks Lodge and Caravan Park has a fully-licensed on-site shop stocked with everyday essentials like milk and bread, as well as local treats and alcoholic drinks. Wi-Fi - see individual properties for complimentary/chargeable. Please note, that due to our rural location Wi-Fi is limited but we do have 4G signal. Information about the local area is also available to help you plan your daily adventures.

Learn more about the natural environment in which this site sits by following the wildlife walks, plus there's a children's play area suitable for kids of all ages, fenced off from the rest of the park. If the weather allows, and you fancy a picnic, you can do so at one of the tables on the neatly landscaped lawn which leads down to the edge of the lake.

And if you fall in love with the park, you can purchase a holiday home and make Hill of Oaks Lodge and Caravan Park your permanent holiday retreat. Both new and pre-owned properties are available, suiting a large range of budgets. We also operate a 'Know Your Neighbour' policy, which means sub-letting is not permitted, so you can be assured that the friendly community around you is there to stay.

Whatever your age, you will find plenty to do when you visit the UNESCO World Heritage Lake District. The park is ideally situated, just a 10-mile drive to Bowness-on-Windermere, packed full of trendy bars and restaurants. Slightly further afield is Kendal around 20 minutes away, and under an hour's drive is Keswick and Ullswater, making it an ideal base for exploring much of the area. Whether scaling Scafell Pike or learning more about Peter Rabbit and Friends and The World of Beatrix Potter (just a 10-minute drive from this site), this is a lovely part of the country. The stunning landscape of expansive lakes and rugged fells plus the charming towns and villages, create a very special place you'll want to return to time and time again.

Directions

By Car:
Exit Junction 36 on the M6 Motorway and head west on the A590, follow the A590 when it branches left, follow signs for Barrow and Newby Bridge. Follow the A590 until you reach a roundabout signposted Bowness turn right onto the A592 and we are approximately three miles on the left hand side where you will see a sign for Hill Of Oaks Caravan and Lodge park Park turn left and follow the road down past the white Farmhouse until you reach reception by the lakeside where our staff will be happy to help.

By Train:
Getting here by train is also quite simple. Kendal (Oxenholme) is on The West Coast Main Line and trains run regularly from London Euston and Glasgow Central. From Kendal (Oxenholme) take the train to Windermere.
Windermere train station is approx. 6.3 miles from park. It is then just a 15-20 minute taxi ride to Hill of Oaks. If you are visiting us by train please call us on 015395 31578 if you would like further information.

By Plane:
From 4th June 2018, Carlisle Airport will be receiving inbound flights from Dublin, Belfast and London (Southend). Airport connections to Carlisle Train Station, local bus services and car hire is available. Carlisle Airport is only 75 miles from Hill of Oaks.

Our location makes us an ideal base for touring other areas in the Lake District National Park. Take a journey over the Kirkstone Pass; at 1492ft it is Lakeland's highest mountain pass that leads into the picturesque villages of Patterdale and Glenridding. Our sister company Ullswater ‘Steamers’ operates from Glenridding offering lake cruises on Ullswater, known to be one of the most picturesque areas in the Lake District.

I was very disappointed to find out that there are no seasonal pitches available on this site.

I have previously been given a weekly price for a pitch and have now been informed that there are no pitches available & the site does not have a waiting list.

Do any seasonal pitchholders, know of anyone deciding to move on for next year? Hill of oaks was exactly what we wanted, a quiet, family site.

Many thanks to anyone that can help us.

Hill Of Oaks & Blake Holme Caravan Estate, Windermere, Cumbria
A beautifully situated site. It caters mainly for static caravans which are located in pleasant secluded bays among the trees. Some of these sites are poorly maintained by the caravan owners which somewhat spoiled the tranquility of the location. The touring pitches are all hard standing and are of an impressive size, the toilet blocks and facilities all immaculatley maintained - some of the best I have ever used. Childrens play park and football field are good but located too far from the touring area to allow children to play unsupervised. Friendly and helpful staff.

We have a seasonal tourer on the site and we abosolutely love visiting the caravan each weekend

We particually enjoy the friendlyness of the staff and other owners of caravans.

We visit every weekend during the season and when the season end we always look forward to the start again.

I booked this for as a 60th birthday present. They haven’t stopped talking about the accommodation, location, quality of the finish in the apartment, including the very kind gesture of a bottle of wine and goodies left for their special occasion. As a result, I cannot recommend this park enough. Just don't tell everyone, we won’t get booked again!
