Here’s our list of the best things to do on a touring trip through the Midlands, the most difficult decision will be which one to do first!

With beautiful countryside to explore, historic sites to learn about and stunning cities filled with museums and art galleries to discover, the Midlands have a wealth of attractions and activities to keep you entertained on any day, come rain or shine.

Chatsworth House

Step right into Pride and Prejudice at Chatsworth House and take a tour of this beautiful house and gardens. Mr Darcy may not be diving into pools, but the house itself is as beautiful in real life as it is in the film. Art enthusiasts will be in their element here as the house is festooned with artwork and antiques.

Go on a canal trip

The Midlands are riddled with waterways, and there’s no better way to get a different view of England than from the bow of a narrowboat as it slowly chugs between towns. Life moves at a different pace on these canals, and a trip on one is the perfect place to completely unwind. In Dudley you can take a tour with the Canal Trust lasting up to six hours, meaning you won’t have to spend the night on one.

Visit the spa in Sherwood Forest

The Aqua Sana Spa is hidden in the depths Sherwood’s beautiful forest, and a trip here is one that will melt away any stresses of every day life. Spend a day in the luxury spa, which is spread over two levels, and tailor your experience to your needs and wants. Whether you want stress-busting massages or pedicures and facials, there’s something to suit everyone. Evening spa sessions are also available, which are great after a day on the road!

Visit the Falconry Centre

Take on a bird handling course at the Hagley Falconry Centre. Watch majestic eagles soar in the air and then see them up close and personal. On a bird-handling day here you will be given a full tour of the centre before witnessing a display of owls, kites and hawks in action. Once the professionals have done their bit it’s your turn! Full training will be given before an almighty eagle is allowed to land on your arm!

Eat at The Cross

If there’s ever a place to treat yourself to Michelin starred food, The Cross is it. This gastropub, which lives inside a romantic 19th century inn, pumps out dazzling food and exquisite creations on the reg. Expect to see delights such as pork and lobster, wood-smoked eel and crispy duck eggs on the menu. Beats camping in the camper, am I right?
