Visit Dorset on your caravan holidays and pitch at Haycraft Caravan Club Site, near Swanage.

This is a beautiful family holiday destination on the south coast, within the picturesque Purbeck Heritage Coast area. The park is open from early March until early November every year, and is a Caravan Club members only site, welcoming guests with touring caravans.

There are 53 pitches at Haycraft, 39 of which are hardstanding. Facilities at the site include toilet and shower blocks with parent and child washroom facilities, a laundrette and chemical waste disposal points. Pets are welcome at the park and there's a dedicated dog walking area. Wi-Fi is available for all guests.

The site is an ideal base for families looking to explore the beautiful surrounding Purbeck Heritage Coast area, as well as the rest of Dorset. Guests that love the outdoors will find miles of footpaths that head out to the countryside and down to the coast from the site. Many of the routes are also accessible via bicycle, offering tourists a variety of ways of getting around the area.

Swanage is about 10 minutes from this site by car – take in the beach and harbour while you're here. All the beaches on this section of the south Dorset coast are great for families, with paddling and swimming available owing to the cleanliness and relative calm of the waters. A variety of water sports are also offered at various locations, while beachfront and cliff top walks are also great fun, or there is always the option of simply kicking back and relaxing on the golden sands.

The Swanage Railway is one of the foremost attractions in the area, running from the town to the popular Corfe Castle. Riding the railway is always a fun day out for all family members, and is a great way to discover the local area. Close to Corfe Castle is the New Inn public house, which welcomes guests of all ages and serves some great food and drink from the local area.

Haycraft Caravan Club Site also offers easy access to a number of popular local attractions. Favourites with guests staying at the park include Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island, which is managed and maintained by the National Trust. Chesil Beach is also just an hour's drive away.

The towns and cities of Dorset are also hugely popular days out. Dorchester is about a 40-minute drive away, and both Weymouth, with its fort and pavilion, and Bournemouth with its pier, beach and aquarium are around 45 minutes away by car. Away from the coast and again about a 40- or 45-minute drive from Haycraft Caravan Club Site is Blandford Forum, a town known for its Georgian architecture.

Blandford Forum sits on the eastern edge of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is well worth exploring on your caravan holidays. Go walking or take your bike and see the area. The South West Coast Path National Trail, the Wessex Ridgeway and parts of the National Cycle Network all pass through Dorset.

What a fantastic holiday we had at Haycraft in 2007. The site is spotless and nice and quiet. It was very safe for the children and easy access into Swanage. We enjoyed it so much we are going back again this year.
