Enquire Now You enquired

If you're looking for somewhere to stay on your camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in North Yorkshire, why not try Cayton Village Caravan Park near Scarborough.

It features in the Top 100 Sites Guide from Caravan Sitefinder, Practical Motorhome and Practical Caravan, meaning it is one of the best campsites in Yorkshire. It has also been awarded the Visit England 5*, 5 AA Pennants and David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award. The gorgeous setting, the well-kept facilities and the warm welcome given to visitors were all appreciated by guests who voted for it, the dog walk and park also commended.

The park was acquired in 1989, and 29 years later is still owned and operated by the same family. Gemma and Steve run the park with the help of Senior Park Warden, Ryan and a small team of seasonal wardens who help maintain the park during the season. It accommodates tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans to stay at its 310 touring pitches, of which 239 are hardstanding and all of which have electric hook-up. The site is open between March and November, and it is a dog-friendly campsite. In addition, seasonal pitches and winter storage are available.

If you are looking to book a touring pitch, you'll have a number of options – there are grass sites, hardstanding sites and super sites. Or you could opt to stay at The Laurels, a recently developed area with even more spacious super sites, as well as 16-amp electric hook-up, a TV connection for every pitch and Wi-Fi. Campervans and motorhomes are welcome on the hardstanding pitches. All pitches have allocated parking spaces nearby.

For those pitching a tent here, there is a sheltered camping area in the middle of the caravan park. Tents up to nine metres by six metres (including the guy ropes) can be accommodated. All tent pitches have electric hook-ups and a single allocated car parking space. If you want to be near the children's play area you can be, but if you'd like a more quiet camping holiday in Yorkshire, this is not a problem either.

Cayton Village Caravan Park has a shop and off licence, which sells your everyday essentials, groceries, toys and ice cream, as well as camping and caravanning accessories, and it specialises in Camptech awnings. Calor Gas and Camping Gaz are also available here, plus there is an ice pack freezing service. And if you're looking for some handy information about the local area, head to reception where there are lots of leaflets.

The toilet and shower blocks are neat and well maintained. There are also family bathrooms, baby changing facilities and washrooms for disabled visitors on their camping, motorhome or caravan holidays. In addition, there are on-site laundry facilities.

To keep the kids busy and help them let off steam there's a well sized children's play area with swings, a slide and more. There's an impressive dog walking area and nature trail too, to keep two- and four-legged visitors entertained. Plus this is a well connected campsite, as a bus to nearby Scarborough, as well as Filey and Bridlington, stops close to the park's entrance.

Close to the coast but also within easy reach of the North York Moors National Park, if you're looking for a campsite in North Yorkshire, it's worth seeing if Cayton Village Caravan Park is what you need.

We have a touring caravan and have visited this site many times. We have always found the reception staff and ground staff to be extremely helpful. The access to all areas has been carefully thought out. The ground is well kept and the washroom facilities spotlessly clean at all times of the day. Can thoroughly recommend this site.

Property manager response (03 Mar 2010)

Cayton Village has won a gold award in the Britain in Bloom competition, the village has 2 shops, 2 pubs, a fish and chip shop, a cricket club and a post office. At our park we clean our showers and toilets a minimum of 3 times daily. Our showers are push buttons as recommended by the David Bellamy Conservation Scheme of which we have held a gold award for 5 years. Our small camp shop sells the basics, tinned produce, sweets, ice creams, toys and drinks as well as camping accessories and both Calor Gas and Camping Gaz, we are also only 2 miles to Morrisons Superstore.

We stayed at this site from 23rd Sept to the 1st October and had a lovely time. We were made to feel very welcome and the facilities and site were very clean. We had a very nice pitch and care was taken to place us somewhere which would not become boggy after excessive rain. The frequent bus service to Scarborough stopped by the gate and the area had a lot of attractions. We would happily recommend this site to anyone.
