Wrens of Ryedale is a quiet family run touring site set in the beautiful countryside of Ryedale on the edge of the North York Moors. It is set in 3 acres with electric hook up points provided for both caravan and tent pitches.

The park is ideal for those looking for a peaceful holiday in the country, while still being within easy reach of major tourist attractions such as the historic City of York, the Dales, Scarborough and the coast.

The pitches, on open, level ground are sheltered by mature trees and the site is surrounded by farmland.

A children's play area is situated slightly apart from the camping and caravan areas, so we can ensure that the peaceful atmosphere of the site is maintained.

Just stayed at this gem of a park. Well presented, very helpful owners, beautifully clean and tidy. The campsite is small but well run so that you know that there will be no balls "accidentally" kicked against your caravan. I had a relaxing stay and would recommend this campsite to anyone wanting quality. Thank you Wrens of Ryedale!

We visited this site at the bank holiday. The site is ideally located near helmsley and has a lovely fish and chip shop at the top of the lane about 600 metres away. The site is clean as are the toilets, but the site got very crowded. The owners/managers do not welcome children and are very strict with the rules.

I stayed on this site for seven days in my touring caravan with my wife and children aged 12 and 15. We were booked in at reception by the owner who was friendly and helpful. The site was beautifully kept with a spotlessly clean and modern shower block. The site is quiet which is exactly what I want when I have come on holiday to relax. The village pub (10 minute walk) is well worth a visit as is the Indian restaurant (conveniently situated near to pub!) I thoroughly enjoyed my stay on this well run site and would recommend it to anyone. We will definitely be returning.

Smashing little site that was very busy when we visited due to a local show, it was full but not overcrowded. Toilets immaculate, grass and shrubbery similarly so. We neither had children or pets and we were quiet but we did sense that there was an atmosphere of strict rules. I would recommend it and would visit again

We Booked with friends for two nights for a relaxing family weekend. From arriving at reception the lady who owns the park introduced herself by stating
"These are the rules of the park".
1 - Noise at ALL times to be kept to a minimum
2 - ABSOLOUBTY NO noise after 10.30 pm
3 - NO ball games
etc etc.

There was no hello's, or welcome etc

Out friends who also stayed there at the same time, experienced the exact same thing.

Within minutes of pitching, the children walked around getting there bearings, not making any fuss or being boisterous, but the owners immediately came over and said we must NOT let the children walk around as some people pay a "lots of money" to stay ther and they might disturb them.

On the second day, our friends child had a very small soft ball ( the spongy type ) and was playing catch directly outside their caravan.

The lady owner immedaitely came over and berated the child in front of his parents.

Please think very carefully before you go there !

What a fantastic stay we have had at this park. We have two children and despite the previous review they were very happy with the play area. If 'obsessive' means an imaculately kept, PEACEFUL park then I'm all for obsessive! Nearby town of Helmsley very picturesque. Indian restaurant in village excellent. Owners very helpful. This has got to be one of the best small parks I've stayed on and will definately be returning.

The owners work hard to keep the site clean & pretty, but they can be rather obsessive. Children welcome so long as they play on the two swings & see-saw in the corner; otherwise they can be seen but NOT heard. the site doesn't allow bikes to be ridden on sites nor ball games. We adults were told off for being too noisy. We were not raving...just having civilised conversations in the awning until about 11 pm. Hardly the hooligans were made to feel.

Property manager response (15 Sep 2008)

We received 4 complaints about this family (3 x level of late night noise, 1 x about their child). They were politely asked to consider their fellow campers.
