Sun Haven Valley Country Holiday Park in Mawgan Porth, North Cornwall, is set on a grassy hillside half a mile inland from the beach. Tents, campervans, motorhomes and touring caravans are welcome at Sun Haven Valley, and there are 107 touring pitches of which 9 are hardstanding. There are also holiday caravans and chalets to let. Families, couples and family pets are welcome. Up to two dogs are allowed in the rented holiday caravans and chalets, and there is a surcharge to cover the extra cleaning.
This peaceful family run campsite has a children's play area with colourful wooden play equipment. It's called a tower adventure centre and has a 35 foot play train, swings, slides, a wendy house and a wobbly bridge for children to clamber across. There's also a small games and TV room for you to use.
There are animals to meet at the campsite, too. Feed the brown trout in the stream and see if you can net one and pop it into your child's bucket for a closer look. Enjoy the antics of the free-range guinea pigs, hens and ducks, and you can play games on the large lawns, if the animals will move out of the way!
Sun Haven Valley Country Holiday Park has toilets, washrooms and free hot showers, along with a camper's kitchen with microwaves and a food preparation area, washing up facilities, free ice pack freezing service, laundrette, and a TV and games room in a wooden chalet. There's a pinball machine, table football and a few computers with internet access. Wi-Fi is available across the campsite for an additional fee. You can hire a private bathroom if you prefer baths to showers. There's an area where you can wash your surf gear, too.
There's a little shop in reception which sells bread, milk, cans of drinks, ice-creams, sweets and a few basics. You can order a delivery of groceries from ASDA and Sainsbury if you wish, or pick up a Tesco delivery from the gate. Calor Gas refills are on sale, too.
There is no bar or club and no restaurant on site, because Sun Haven Valley Country Holiday Park aims to provide a quiet and peaceful atmosphere for the most relaxing holidays in Cornwall. As part of this, the games room closes at 9.30pm and there's a 'quiet after 10.30pm' policy.
This leaves you free to explore the two pubs and several cafés and restaurants in Mawgan Porth, which are only a short walk away. The Merrymoor Inn is right by the beach at Mawgan Porth and sells good food, and you'll also find a good beach café and fish and chip café overlooking the beach. If you go inland to the village of St Mawgan you'll find the beautiful Falcon Inn, which also provides excellent meals and welcomes people with dogs. During the Summer, we often host food carts on site, serving a vairety of foods, including a breakfast van and a wood-fired pizza oven"
Once you're on the site, you won't need to drive anywhere, because there's a bus running past the campsite, going from Newquay to Padstow. There are great views from the top deck as you ride along the clifftops. Take your bicycles and go for country bike rides or pick up a section of the Camel trail. Or just walk straight from the campsite to the sandy beach at Mawgan Porth.
If you enjoy fishing, pop next door to the fishing lakes and hire your tackle and bait for a relaxing day.

This is also a dog friendly campsite, so you can bring your four-legged friend with you on your well earned camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in Cornwall – indeed, Sun Haven Valley's owners have dogs. There is an extra fee for dogs and please only bring up to two of them. Owners are reminded to clean up after their dogs and to keep them under control at all times. There is a dog friendly camping area and some dog friendly chalets and holiday caravans that you can stay in. Due to there being free range poultry and guinea pigs, please keep your dogs on a lead. There is a field where you can exercise your dogs off the lead – but only if your hound doesn't chase horses.
