The Gard department offers a remarkable and constantly changing variety of landscapes, with innumerable architectural treasures. In just a few hours you can move from the greenery of the Cévennes forests and cross the wild and pungent vegetation of the garrigue to reach the sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches. The region has witnessed 2,000 years of history and is considered to be one of the cradle’s of Roman civilisation in Europe.
Within a radius of 25 miles there are castles, caverns, museums, vineyards and panoramic views to be discovered. See the Roman remains at Nimes, Arles, Avignon, les Baux de Provence and the
Pont du Gard or visit the fortified mediaeval village of Aigues-Mortes with its traditions.
To cool off, visit one of the famous caverns in the region or bathe or canoe in the surroundings the gorges of the Gardon, the Vis or the
Herault.
Admire the wild Camargue wetlands with the magnificent take-off of the flamingos and the fiery gallop of the white horses.
Don’t miss the fantastic views of the Cirque de Navacelles, Mont-Aigoual and the Corniche des Cévennes.
You can also take the picturesque steam train trip to visit the original bamboo forest.

You can discover our natural and historical heritage which is located in the Gard heart, and our beautiful beaches at 40 KM. 15 min. from Nîmes and 45 min. from Arles and Camargue.
