Jacobs Mount Caravan and Camping Park is a family-run campsite, set amidst mature woodland, approximately two miles from Scarborough.

As it's set near Peasholme Park, on the outskirts of the lively seaside town of Scarborough, Jacobs Mount campsite offers the best of both worlds – it's a quiet rural campsite with access to Scarborough's seaside attractions, sandy beaches and nightlife, as well as peaceful woodlands and countryside walks.

Caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and tents are all welcome to stay in this sheltered campsite. The touring pitches are fully serviced with water, drain and electric hook-up points and have all-weather gravel hardstandings. It's secure, with entrance barriers and CCTV to keep you and your property safe. Electronic smart cards are used for access to everything from the entrance barrier to the washblocks and use of the the electric hook-ups. (Electricity is provided on a pay-as-you-go basis rather than a flat fee, so that's fairer than normal if you're in a modest camper van or caravan parked up next to a huge American RV with all mod cons on board, or somebody plugging a fan heater into the hook-up and trying to heat up their awning). There's a returnable £5 deposit to pay for the toilet block access card.

A limited number of seasonal pitches are available, too, which suits people who prefer to buy their own touring caravan and leave it on one campsite for most of the year, or even the whole year. Seasonal pitches provide a good solution for families who want to buy a caravan, but have no room to store it at home.

Jacobs Mount campsite is heaven for any nature-lovers and will also suit walkers, families and dog owners, because there is a large network of footpaths nearby. Visit Betton children’s farm, the bird sanctuary and Honey Farm, which are all close to this family-friendly campsite near Scarborough.

There are also self-contained holiday homes you can hire, which sleep four or six people. These are modern brick-built cottages, and each one has a lounge with a TV, a kitchen-diner, a downstairs toilet with hand basin, a first floor shower room, with toilet and hand basin. There are two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with twin single beds) and if you'd like a cot, please say so when booking. You can either take your own bed linen and towels, or hire them from Jacobs Mount if you prefer.

These holiday cottages near Scarborough can sleep four-to-six adults, if you use the sofa-bed in the lounge for two people. All cottages have central heating. In the kitchen you'll find a microwave oven, a full-size electric cooker, a fridge and a kettle. There's room to park in front of the cottages.

If you're looking to buy your own static caravan and keep it here, you may be in luck, since the owner-occupied holiday caravans do come up for sale from time to time. Alternatively you could buy a brand new holiday caravan and have it sited here. Jacobs Mount Caravan Park can find and supply all makes and sizes of static holiday caravans from the manufacturers, as long as there's an empty plot at the time. As an example, the costs of this would be the purchase price of the static caravan, plus the cost of delivering and siting it, and an annual ground rent for the plot of £2,315 (2014 price). On top of that you'd pay for gas bottle refills and whatever electricity you use. You'd then be able to stay in your own holiday caravan as often as you wished, from the first weekend in March, until the first weekend in January the following year. The life exectancy of these static vans from new is 12 years, but might be accepted on the site for three more years if it passes an annual chassis inspection after 12 years.

Excellent site all pitches are fully serviced with hard standing.

Staff are very friendly and the onsite bar is very reasonable

this year they have been forced to charge for electric due to the consumption of some people leaving heaters on all day when off site.

Cost of a pitch even with the extra charge is really good.

If i was to find one fault it would be that the electric is on 10 amp breakers and did trip with the heating on an the kettle switched on.

Nice well kept site.2 cottages that take dogs. The bar is not used a lot by holidaymakers,so is a bit dead. The meals served in the pub are well worth the price.make sure to go in starving coz they're big portions! The downside is that it's a 1/2 hr. walk to the nearest off site pub which is the Crown tavern. It was £6-£6.50 to taxi into Scarborough.Crown also does good meals but aren't so generous with their portions.
