Le Camp de Florence

Camping Camp de Florence in Gers, Midi-Pyrenees in south-west France is a spacious 40 acre camping and caravanning park with wonderful views of the undulating Gascony countryside and the picturesque 13th century fortified village, La Romieu. Countless walks and cycle routes directly from the park. Gourmet restaurant, entertainment for all ages, chalets and mobile homes for rent.


The Camp de Florence is a 40 acre park with wonderful views of the undulating Gascony countryside. Leave the busy roads behind you and take a step back in time. The peaceful fortified villages and friendly landscape will help you unwind and introduce you to a more relaxed way of life.

In the park you will find large spacious pitches, some with shade, many with splendid views. Teenagers can pitch their tents in an area specially reserved for them. Our modern sanitary blocks include free hot water, facilities for washing, drying and ironing your clothes, a baby bath and even a shower for your dog… Alternatively you could try one of our comfortable, fully-equipped accommodation units (chalets, mobile homes, cottages, Trigano tents).

A 5 minute stroll from the park takes you to La Romieu, a picturesque fortified village, first established in the 11th century by pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. Dominating the centre of the village is the magnificent 13th century church (Collégiale) with its cloisters, frescos and towers, listed world heritage by UNESCO. A fascinating guided tour is not to be missed. Have you heard the legend of the cats…?

This is a part of France where time has stood still, thus preserving the scenery, the gastronomy and a special way of living unique to Gascony. The birthplace of d’Artagnan is a landscape of rolling hills and green valleys, a patchwork of woodland, vineyards and sunflowers.

If you love nature, enjoy discovering new cultures, like to be active or alternatively prefer complete relaxation, in the Gers you will find what you are looking for.

Services
The 19th century farm, houses a lively bar on the ground floor and a gourmet restaurant on the first floor (stair and lift access). Take your time, try the local aperitifs; floc de gascogne and pousse rapière, followed by the chef’s delicious regional specialities (foie gras, magret duck, pastis gascon...). The atmospheric restaurant, with oak beams and large bay windows looking out over the countryside, is air-conditioned for your comfort.

The hundred year old trees ensure the terrace stays cool, the ideal place for a refreshing drink, an ice-cream and a friendly chat. The terrace also houses the stage and dance floor and is the setting for dance evenings, entertainment and our famous barbecue.

The pizzeria offers fresh, home-made pizzas, a tempting menu of the day and a large selection of snacks which you can take away or eat on the shady terrace.

Every morning you can buy fresh bread, croissants, pains aux chocolats and pains aux raisins. On Sundays delicious cakes are also available.
Continental breakfast is served in the bar or on the terrace (please order the day before).

In La Romieu, only 500m away, you will find a grocer, a baker and a tobacconist with newspapers, magazines, souvenirs, dry-cleaning and photo developing. There is also a bar, a restaurant, tourist information and two doctors.
In Condom (11km) you will find supermarkets, shops, banks, cash points, petrol stations, and a weekly market.

Make the most of your stay and get to know the surrounding area. Visit the
picturesque fortified villages with charming stone houses or the remains of a gallo-roman villa at Séviac. Auch, the capital of the Gers, with its splendid cathedral, statue of D’Artagnan and famous monumental steps. Nérac, home of Henri IV.
Museums: Armagnac, Archaeology and the famous Condom museum.
For children of all ages, the magical Parc Walibi in Agen.

Take a refreshing swim in our tropical swimming pool, complete with fountain, waterfall, Jacuzzi and paddling pool. Soak up the sun on the large terraces around the pool or relax on a sun lounger in the shade of a parasol. The pool is accessible to all, including the physically handicapped (a special swimming pool wheelchair is available free of charge).

Open 1st May until 30th September.
The bouncy castle, trampoline and outdoor billiard table will provide hours of entertainment, while the clown fountain in the paddling pool will amuse the little ones.

Leisure

There are endless possibilities for exploring the Gers; on foot, on a bicycle or mountain bike, on horseback, even on a boat… Join the locals celebrating their village fêtes. Visit the castles, Abbeys and Armagnac cellars. Enjoy the local markets and taste the many delicious regional products.
If you enjoy playing golf you will find two courses nearby, or maybe you prefer karting, canoeing, sight-seeing by plane or ultra-light or a peaceful afternoon fishing.

You can walk or cycle for miles on the many paths and ancient pilgrim routes heading directly from the campsite into the Gascony countryside. Borrow the maps free of charge from reception, or alternatively join our english-speaking guide and get to know the area and other walkers in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

The Camp de Florence Bar houses a games room with pool table, electronic games, table football, board games, dart board etc. Here you will also find a large screen television with satellite, a multi-lingual library and modern internet facilities (broadband).

Outdoors you will find several table tennis tables, an outdoor pool table, two play areas for the children and a large animal park.
Sports facilities include; a football pitch, volleyball, basketball, tennis, badminton, pétanque, cycle hire.

From mid-May to mid-September we offer you; excursions with our english-speaking guide to Armagnac châteaux, the Collégiale La Romieu, Bastide villages etc. Guided Walks along the ancient pilgrim routes. Petanque tournaments. Theme evenings with music and dancing.

In addition to the above, in July and August we also offer; a children’s club for the 4 – 12 year olds with qualified entertainers, a variety of activities for children and adults, sports activities, dance and musical evenings, shows, disco, touristic rallys ...
