Keel Sandybanks Caravan Park is a beautiful four-star, family-run holiday park on Achill Island, County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland. The park is open from 1st May until 22nd August, and welcomes guests with touring caravans, motorhomes, and tents onto the site. There is also a range of static caravans for hire available at the park. Go glamping in horse drawn caravans on this campsite by the Atlantic coast, too. The site is family friendly and pets are also allowed.

Electric hook-ups are available at the site, and you will find that a number of hard standing pitches are available. In addition, facilities on offer at Keel Sandybanks Caravan Park include two toilet and shower blocks, a laundrette, and a well-equipped camper’s kitchen. There is also a motorhome drive-through service point, where you can fill up the water tanks and dispose of grey water and chemical waste. The park also has recycling facilities, available to all. Water taps are located around the park, while a gas barbecue is also available for guests’ use.

There is plenty to do at Keel Sandybanks Caravan Park. Children will enjoy the adventure playground, which is situated at the park entrance, and the recreation hall, which houses a pool table, computer games, books, a television, and a toddler’s play area. The park’s location means that when you stay here you will enjoy direct access to the amazing beach, which is perfect for walks as well as paddling, swimming, and much more. Alternatively, you can choose to simply relax and enjoy the view and the beautiful sunsets out across the Atlantic.

Within walking distance of the park is a great selection of local amenities, including convenience stores, family friendly pubs and restaurants, quirky gift shops, and art galleries, all in the town of Keel. Close to the park is Achill Golf Club, which offers a nine-hole course, while you can go fishing and walking in the countryside at Keel Lough, the lake that is just a short distance away. The Valley House Hotel in town also has a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course, which is open to the public as well as hotel guests.

The coastal regions and the streams and rivers feeding into the Atlantic are also excellent for fishing, with a wide range of species calling the local waterways home.

If you would like to get out and about during your tent, motorhome and caravan holidays in Ireland, you can enjoy miles of beautiful walking routes, with flat trails on offer as well as challenging hill and mountain walks. Many routes are also accessible via mountain bike, while horse riding is offered from numerous locations across gentler terrain.

The Wild Atlantic Way is a stunning road route to follow if you'd like a scenic drive with breathtaking views of the Irish coastline. It's hilly in places, so the route is ideal to do in a campervan or car, but taking it more slowly by bicycle is highly recommended. There are numerous viewpoints, great beaches and attractions to stop off and see along the way.

Guests still seeking adventure will find numerous points across Achill Island where they can enjoy water sports, such as kite surfing, canoeing, kayaking, and scuba diving. All these fun activities are on offer at several places across the island.

We found Keel Sandybanks Caravan Park very good. The facilities were of a high standard and very clean. The park is located very close to a lovely clean beach. beside the park is a lovely childrens play ground. The park is also very close to shops, restaurants, take aways and pubs. We would definitly go back to this caravan park again and will be recommending it to all our friends.

The sand banks is a great site for touring vans and tents. The beach is a two minute walk from the site and is a blue flag beach great for wind surfing, swimming ect. There are some good fishing areas close by both fresh and salt water and some good traditional music pubs just a few minutes walk.
You can hire a mobile home on site but these are of a poor standard and need upgrading. a great place for kids with a fun fair next door.
