Acton Field Camping Site is a beautiful holiday park found close to the town of Swanage on the Dorset coast. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to miles of Heritage Coast, Acton Field is a wonderful place to head for a relaxing family break.

The park promotes a simple camping ethos of allowing guests to choose their own pitch on arrival from the open fields at this site. Guests are also welcome to just turn up at Acton Field and stay for one night or several, making the park a popular location for those touring the south coast or heading on from there to another destination.

Caravans, tents and motorhomes are welcome to pitch here. Although there is no shop or notable facilities on the site, a mobile grocery van does regularly visit Acton Field Camping Site providing guests with fresh bread, vegetables and a range of other supplies and camping accessories. The nearest pub is a short half mile walk away in the local village, Langton Matravers, and serves locally sourced produce. Other great pubs and restaurants can be found in the area, including the Square and Compass, which is six miles away.

There are lots of things to do in Dorset on your camping and caravan holidays. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice, no matter whether they are seeking golden sands to kick back and relax for the day or want miles of cliff-top walks, fossil digging, rock pooling or cave exploration. The seas of the south Dorset coast are known for their relative calm and tranquillity, making them perfect for families looking to spend time in the water, whether swimming and/or paddling.

In Swanage, a 10-minute drive from this campsite, there are many cafés, restaurants and shops to visit, while many guests choose to stay in the town until the evening and enjoy dinner in one of the establishments overlooking Swanage Bay.

Guests also have miles of countryside and woodland to explore inland, with the whole Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty accessible on foot or bicycle, with bike hire available locally for guests staying at this campsite. Those who enjoy outdoor pursuits but prefer a relaxing day can find numerous locations for enjoying fishing and golf.

Less than an hour by car from Acton Field Camping Site is Weymouth, one of the fastest growing seaside resorts on the south coast, near which is the famous Chesil Beach. Or how about a day in Poole? It's a 35-minute drive from this campsite. Or Bournemouth, which is a little further away and will take you about 50 minutes to drive to? Poole Harbour is a lovely place to spend time. While if you visit Bournemouth, you can enjoy the beach, the pier and Oceanarium, the Bournemouth aquarium.

Visit Dorset on your camping holidays and if you like tanks, why not head to The Tank Museum in Bovington Camp, less than half an hour by car from this campsite. Dorchester is also just a 45-minute drive from this site – it is a famous, historic market town, the county town of Dorset and famous for its connections to novelist and poet Thomas Hardy.

Facilities:
Allow rallies, Pets allowed, Chemical disposal point, Sanitary block(s), Washing up facilities

Facilities include a simple toilet block with hot showers. The showers are on a meter so make sure you bring some 20p's! There is also a chemical disposal point on site and dustbin area which is emptied regularly.

A mobile grocery van visits the site providing fresh bread, vegetables, newspapers and other essential items. If you like to be able to walk to the pub for food and drink then we have The Kings Arms only about half a mile away in Langton Matravers. Otherwise there is the now world famous Square and Compass in Worth Matravers about three miles from the campsite.
