How could camping in Wensleydale be better than here at Aysgarth Falls Hotel? In 2014, we became a very quiet, adults only site, so you should be able to count on a peaceful time! We are sorry to disappoint any families with children.
And if you’re looking for a centrally based place to camp, next to Aysgarth Falls itself, it’d be difficult to find a better located site.
Our camping facilities are very basic, but clean and cute… in fact there are two toilets and two showers built inside little sheds. You will have easy access to our pub with great beers and wines and lovely food, but there are drawbacks (for some!).
We don’t have a shop, (but there's a new and quite good one at the garage up the road) and we don’t have a laundry! We have only a few electric hook ups, 1 for a tent, the rest for caravans. Also, the church bells ring on the hour, every hour, with a reminder that you are still alive every 15 minutes! The birds sing at alarming volume, and occasionally a sheep might bleat - but your rabbit neighbours will be quiet and charming. If this sort of noise worries you, then Aysgarth Falls Hotel Campsite, probably isn’t for you…
However, if you want to be in the best countryside that England has to offer, along with a great pub, with rooms and food, then why not give it a try?
We also want our campsite to remain quiet for all campers, so if your neighbour can hear your radio etc, that’s not okay. Also fires must not be on the floor, and not just on stones, but are only okay in an off the ground, non grass scorching contraption!
We hope this is all okay for you, as we’d like you to join us here…
If you’d like to book for camping, we may ask you to pay a £20 deposit. Please note that unless you cancel earlier than a week before, there will be no refunds…even if the weather changes or you have got wet! If you prefer not to book, that’s fine, you can turn up and come to see us in the pub, but you do take a chance that we will be full, and the same goes for for booking dinner in the evening!
Caravans or campervans?
We are a Caravan Club CL site, and can only take members, sorry. (EHU costs an extra £3 per night). An explanation for this? The National Park refuse permission for us to have a general site (except tents), which is disappointing to us, and to non Caravan Club members. Please note that we can't take bookings for motorhomes, due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, and the difficulty with access when it's wet. If it's been very dry, and you are passing, it might be worth asking...
How much does it cost? It costs £7 per person, per night (£3 for EHU)!
