Gwinear Camping and Fishing

Newquay, Cornwall

Enquire Now You enquired

Gwinear Farm Caravanning, Camping, Fishing and Horse Riding Stables is a family-run campsite near Newquay with stables and fishing lakes on-site. This makes it an ideal choice for quiet tent, motorhome and caravan holidays in Cornwall all year round, particularly if you enjoy beach holidays, fishing and horse riding.

There are two camping fields at Gwinear Farm, with spacious grass pitches, 18 of which have electric hook-ups and overlook the largest of the two fishing lakes. A few of the pitches have mains water, too. Tent campers have even more choice of places to pitch in the peaceful fields, near the fishing lakes.

From your pitch you'll be able to sit back and relax, light the barbecue and cook your food while watching the sun set over the Cornish countryside. You'll wake up to panoramic views, too.

There's a modern block where you'll be able to enjoy showers, toilets, basins and washing facilities. The campsite is open all year round and children under three years old can stay for free. There’s also no extra charge if you just have one dog and one awning. Child rates apply to children aged from three to 15, and adult rates for people aged 16 and over.

Gwinear Farm used to be called Windsor Farm, and was built in the 17th Century. The Hammond family bought the farm in October 2014 and are gradually improving the fishing facilities.

You can go for walks all around Gwinear Farm itself, where the natural surroundings attract wildlife, particularly kingfishers. Or you could head to the nearest village, Cubert, which is just two miles south of Newquay, on the north coast of Cornwall. Both of the two closest villages, Cubert and Crantock, have good pubs, cafés, little shops and tearooms. Try the Smuggler's Den in Cubert and the Bowgie Inn at West Pentire, Crantock.

Most people visit Cornwall for sun, sand, surf and seafood, plus of course the wonderful Cornish clotted cream teas and ice-creams. And if you stay at Gwinear Farm, you'll be close to three of the best beaches in Cornwall, at Crantock, Hollywell Bay and Porth Joke (also known as Polly Joke) beach. Teach your children how to build the best sandcastles on the beach, go looking for crabs and shrimps in the rock pools, take a look at sea caves and blow holes, enjoy cliff top walks with fabulous views... and just allow yourself to relax in this tranquil spot, far from everyday cares.

Newquay itself is also famous for its beautiful beach and is one of the top destinations for holidays in Cornwall, especially for all watersports fans.

Fistral Beach is famous because of the annual surfing championships and there are lifeguards here, which is reassuring for all swimmers, surfers and bodyboarders – and parents!
