Watergate Bay Touring Park is a highly rated, friendly campsite tor tent, motorhome and caravan holidays in Cornwall. It is just a short distance outside the lively and popular Cornish seaside resort of Newquay, and is open every year from March to October. The park has been graded as five-stars by the AA and is also a proud holder of the David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award.

Watergate Bay Touring Park sits in beautiful countryside, which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The advantage of spending your holidays in Watergate Bay Touring Park is that you will discover a range of different beaches you can visit and enjoy, from the lively seafront at Newquay with its roaring surf to the hidden coves and unspoiled sands that can be discovered within a short walk of the site.

Most of the beaches on this section of the Cornwall coast are great for children, with plenty of space to play as well as rock pools and caves to explore, while lifeguards are present, and safe swimming areas are well marked. When the tide is out it is actually possible to head to the nearest beach at Watergate Bay and walk right along to Newquay and other destinations, which is a unique and memorable experience.

The park welcomes guests with touring caravans, motorhomes, and tents, with a range of pitches available including non-electric, electric, and super pitches available. Guests wishing to stay at the park that don’t have their own accommodation should enquire about the availability of the site’s two static caravans, which are available for hire.

Facilities available on-site for guests to use during their stay include a laundrette and heated amenities block, while there is a well-stocked shop for guests to buy their holiday essentials, and a café with takeaway facility serving food and drinks. There is also an on-site bar, with live entertainment provided on most nights during the open season.

Guests will find plenty to do on-site at Watergate Bay Tourist Park, with a children’s adventure playground, heated indoor swimming pool, multi-purpose sports courts, tennis courts, and amusement arcades all available. Children’s clubs are run at various points throughout the year, and offer a great opportunity for parents to enjoy a brief break themselves.

As well as offering amazing access to the coast, there is much to explore and enjoy in the area surrounding Watergate Bay. Many guests enjoy driving through the Cornish countryside and spending time in the quirky towns and villages that are found across the region, while the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Dartmoor National Park, and the Eden Project are all worth visiting.

To find the best sunsets in Cornwall, all you romantic sunset lovers should spend the end of the day at Land’s End and watch the sun dip down over the Atlantic. Visit St Ives and Penzance, too, which are also great places to explore and are not far from Watergate Bay Touring Park.

If you'd like to enjoy city life during your holidays in Watergate Bay, visit Exeter or Plymouth, where there are plenty of things to do, if you would like to enjoy cultural and leisure attractions during your holidays in Cornwall.

Watergate Bay Touring Park is a wonderful place to spend your holidays, as well as an ideal base for exploring the Cornwall coast.

It's a shame I feel compelled to post this as the campsite itself along with the facilities are actually very good. We only stayed for one night out of our prepaid 3 - the main reason for this was me falling ill, however we were unable to get a good night's sleep regardless due to noisy campsite guests roaming the park (mainly drunk teenage-sounding girls from at least 2 separate groups), who were shouting and singing from beyond 2am up until 5am. No campsite security existed beyond 2am. Because no-one else apparently reported this noise, the campsite owner seemed to suggest I was making it up! We had no reason to. Despite illness requiring medical assistance, and illness being included as a valid reason for a refund in the terms and conditions, I was not offered any refund whatsoever, even just for the last night. The campsite wasn't even fully booked. I was also told by the manager by email that I should have asked the staff for a local doctor and that it was a shame they weren't "given a chance" to help me. None of the reception staff offered or suggested medical help when I mentioned being ill, plus I found this rather insulting and lacking in empathy. I have a solicitor friend who is looking into the campsite terms, however just beware that customer service doesn't appear to be in the vocabulary of the management of this campsite. I'd also recommend not booking and having to pay in advance at the end of August as we found plenty of spaces available in different campsites around this time of year.

We were perhaps very unlucky, however after reading some of the more negative reviews on this site it appears that this is not the first time noisy guests have been reported and fed back on. Regardless of the experience, the level of customer service could do with some significant improvement.

This was our first visit to watergate bay, and I can honestly say we will come back. The first week was the week before spring bank holiday and was very quite we had four pitches to ourselves, and most days the pool aswell, which was very clean. There is a good childrens play area and skate park. The shop didnt open till thursday and the club on friday, but we did not find this a problem. The second week the field filled up but everywhere was kept clean and tidy, the bar was reasonably priced and the meals looked good. It is a family run park, and is in an ideal place to visit some of the beautiful cornish coast. The nearest beach is watergate bay and you can walk either by the coast path which we did although it took us 25 mins and it was nice for for a walk with the dog but we took the car when we went for the day as it was bit to far for our three year old and Dad finished up carrying her most of the way back.

We have been visiting this family run site for many years but were particularly impressed this year with the new retractable swimming pool cover and the new shop. This site has always been a good location for getting out and about in Cornwall. it is very clean and friendly and drinks are reasonably priced at the bar.
