It's a shame I feel compelled to post this as the campsite itself along with the facilities are actually very good. We only stayed for one night out of our prepaid 3 - the main reason for this was me falling ill, however we were unable to get a good night's sleep regardless due to noisy campsite guests roaming the park (mainly drunk teenage-sounding girls from at least 2 separate groups), who were shouting and singing from beyond 2am up until 5am. No campsite security existed beyond 2am. Because no-one else apparently reported this noise, the campsite owner seemed to suggest I was making it up! We had no reason to. Despite illness requiring medical assistance, and illness being included as a valid reason for a refund in the terms and conditions, I was not offered any refund whatsoever, even just for the last night. The campsite wasn't even fully booked. I was also told by the manager by email that I should have asked the staff for a local doctor and that it was a shame they weren't "given a chance" to help me. None of the reception staff offered or suggested medical help when I mentioned being ill, plus I found this rather insulting and lacking in empathy. I have a solicitor friend who is looking into the campsite terms, however just beware that customer service doesn't appear to be in the vocabulary of the management of this campsite. I'd also recommend not booking and having to pay in advance at the end of August as we found plenty of spaces available in different campsites around this time of year.

We were perhaps very unlucky, however after reading some of the more negative reviews on this site it appears that this is not the first time noisy guests have been reported and fed back on. Regardless of the experience, the level of customer service could do with some significant improvement.

This was our first visit to watergate bay, and I can honestly say we will come back. The first week was the week before spring bank holiday and was very quite we had four pitches to ourselves, and most days the pool aswell, which was very clean. There is a good childrens play area and skate park. The shop didnt open till thursday and the club on friday, but we did not find this a problem. The second week the field filled up but everywhere was kept clean and tidy, the bar was reasonably priced and the meals looked good. It is a family run park, and is in an ideal place to visit some of the beautiful cornish coast. The nearest beach is watergate bay and you can walk either by the coast path which we did although it took us 25 mins and it was nice for for a walk with the dog but we took the car when we went for the day as it was bit to far for our three year old and Dad finished up carrying her most of the way back.

We have been visiting this family run site for many years but were particularly impressed this year with the new retractable swimming pool cover and the new shop. This site has always been a good location for getting out and about in Cornwall. it is very clean and friendly and drinks are reasonably priced at the bar.
