We stumbled upon this lovely unspoilt site located right in the middle of France by accident after 'running away' from a large commercial site further south. We were greeted by the English owner and staff and were given a tour of the site before deciding where to set up.

There is a variety of pitches available, some shaded, some in full sun. There are a number of pitches available in the woods both with and without electricity.

Fresh bread, croissants etc are available to order from the bar area - just let them know your requirements the day before.

The toilet blocks are centrally located and are spotless, along with laundry facilities and refuse disposal.

The pool is conveniently located at the site entrance, not far from the bar - which also serves snacks etc in the evening.

There are family activities available on site and accompanied nature walks through the woodland - and moonlight walks for the more adventurous.

The area is well known for its brocants and medieval fayres during the summer months so is well worth a longer stayover.

We will definitely make a return visit.

My wife and I had a lovely stay at the site, plenty of pitch space and very peaceful but also lots of interesting things to do for both young and old. The swimming pool is a welcome cool off when hot and a relaxed atmosphere either having an evening drink in the bar area or sat around the campfire. Ideal for forest trails and walks and always be on the look out for wildlife as we had a beautiful stag in our headlights one night as we approached the site entrance. The facilities are spotlessly clean and everything is at hand so all in all had a very enjoyable holiday and are currently making arrangements for a return trip this year.

Visited the place on our way to Southern France and boy wasn't that a great idea! The place is so nice, well maintained and clean. It is equally peaceful. If you have children, this place is really ideal. There is also a nice little bar and restaurant where you can pass some time. If I drive down that side again, I will surely stay there again.

Our second year visiting this wonderful campsite, in fact so good, we popped over near the end of the season for another visit.
Always a warm and friendly welcome by the proprietor on arrival at the campsite.
We are still "absolutely amazed", how beautiful this camp site is.
It is "Located within the forest not far off the motorway"
Only 5 hours from the Ferry terminal.
Close to many lovely towns to explore.
Also a lovely beach a few miles down the road.
Several of the days we were there, on all of our visits, we did not feel the need to go off site;
Fresh bread and croissants in the morning, (Pre ordered the night before)
Plenty of sunshine. Even during our second visit this year in late September.
This is one of the warmest regions of France (apart from Provence)
A magnificent swimming pool, which is well maintained.
Close to the pool is the bar, which not only serves drinks, but meals as well. Very well priced for drinks and food.
There were plenty of other people staying, but because the camp is so large it was not overcrowded.
Shower and toilet blocks were immaculate at all times.
So glad it is not like the big commercial sites elsewhere, but still plenty to do.
Such a peaceful, beautiful and friendly campsite, we cannot wait to go back again next year.

Looking forward to more walking and exploring, Great looking out for wildlife. Many different species of birds which I do not normally get to see in the UK.
Also spotted this year; An enormous Stag, which was only in a field adjacent to the campsite, wild boar and my wife's favourite Red squirrels.

Liked: Relaxed atmosphere, the extremely helpful staff, Simon was constantly available to help out around the site and at the bar. Drinks at the bar were very cheap and the bar area was ideal for meeting other campers. The kids enjoyed the teen area and the freedom to roam the area, also the wifi range was great!!

Champ De La Chapelle

Ideal for families and couples. Could probably cater for small, organised groups of people too as the site is quite large but communal and friendly. We stayed in a fully equipped family tent equipped with a fridge and electrical supply. Fresh drinking water tap on plot - you need to take no equipment with you except for snacks/food provisions, torches and disposable bbqs etc, even so, local shops sell everything you could need, and hot food, drinks/ice creams are available on site.
Swimming pool and table tennis facilities on site, beautiful, very peaceful countryside/forested surroundings. For children (and grown-ups) you can do marshmallow toasting around camp fire at night - a must do activity, as was the lawn game, "Kubb". The camp site is illuminated with lamp posts until 11pm. Rutting stags can be heard at night - great for nature watchers. Interesting local villages and numerous Château and swimming lakes to visit for small fee or free of charge. The weather in this area during the summer is dry and warm. I highly recommend Champ de la Chappelle as it is well run, "unregimented" and situated in a stunning environment, Forêt de Tronçais.

Liked: Site was situated in lovely surrounding oak forest with a lake where there is a beach 5km away. The pitches were among the woods which meant the tent did not overheat and were situated close to a large open green space where there was an outdoor pool, volleyball net, foot golf pitch and younger children's play equipment as well as fun and competitive game called Kubb. Here also was a marquis where you could gather and get a drink, ice cream, burgers and chips as well as put in your order for baguettes and croissants for the next morning. There was also a wooded play area with a tree house on the other side of the pitches.

The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make everyone's stay a special time. They organised a few events such as a woodland walk followed by evening swim, cheese and wine evening, tractor rides and on a number of evenings would get a fire going to toast marshmallows...something the children and adults loved.

The site was not too large which meant that the children and the adults made friends easily and felt very safe for the children to freely play around.

The rented tent was a good size for the 6 of us and came with a full size fridge, bbq, table and chairs.

Our family of 2 adults plus four children of 16, 14, 11 and 8 all loved their time here and would love to stay again.

Disliked: Our one day of rain!

Champ De La Chapelle

Very peaceful and quiet in a large oak forest. Owner (Simon) and staff were very friendly and helpful.
All facilities were clean and within the same block.
Pitch was large but with a slight slope and lots of shade. Electric and water services for each pitch.
Wifi available by the bar worked well.
Simon and his 'willing' volunteers were working hard to make more improvements and facilities available in the future.
Good Luck

Champ De La Chapelle

This was the first time I had had a holiday in a tent. I've previously stayed in mobile homes on large corporate sites so didn't really know what to expect.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We had a really big pitch so we could spread out and relax.
The staff were great. Really chatty and helpful recommending where to go locally and cheap drinks at the bar!
I'll certainly go again

Champ De La Chapelle

The owners and staff couldn't do enough for us. The facilities are great, clean and just what we want. There is a variety of spacious pitches both sunny and shaded. The site is large enough for those after-lunch walks.

Every evening there is a convivial gathering at the bar (where the price of drinks is very reasonable) and international conversations can be enjoyed.

In Ainay le Chateau (nearby village) there is a wonderful boulangerie/patisserie with bread and cakes to die for.

The area around the site is full of interesting places - villages, chateaux and countryside. All well worth exploring, especially the brocante (antiques) fairs held regularly.

We'll be there in 2016.

The area in which the campsite is located is very beautiful with many options for days out. These range from lakes with sandy beaches to chateaux and medieval towns and villages. The campsite is about 15 acres but there are only 80 pitches so no overcrowding. The swimming pool and bar cafe area was very pleasant and there were numerous free activities on site. Our teenage daughter and her friend liked the teen 'hang out' area with .activities there. We attended a wine and cheese evening in the bar which was both informative and very enjoyable. There was a good mix of nationalities staying on the site during our time there.
I can thoroughly recommend this campsite with the friendly staff speaking English, French and Dutch
