Very popular site in Brittany, facing the English Channel. There is so much to see nearby - beautiful architecture and grand sites. Lovely nature surrounds the site and there is a lot of great facilities and activities available to you on this site.

This was the location for the first Practical Caravan Reader Rally in late summer 2009. Our group of around 14 caravans stayed in the 'Les Donkeys' area of the site at the end of high season and among the group, impressions were generally very favourable. Pitches in Les Donkeys are reasonably sized rather than huge and access can be a little tricky due to some oddly placed trees and bushes. Other than that, the toilets and showers nearby were well kept, although I favoured the toilet block adjacent to the sports area as it had been refurbished for the 2008 season. Finding a fresh water tap without walking miles was also a bit of a bind. Also, several people had reversed polarity on pitch, so take a conversion lead to ensure you don't have any problems. We were able to receive satellite telly with no problems too.
Of the on-site facilities, the restuarant behind the games room and overlooking the outdoor pool was excellent and specialised in cooking over a charcoal grill. The pizzeria was a bit grim, but the bar was a friendly spot that we found ourselves in on a few occasions. The shop was well stocked with essentials and a few useful spare parts for any stricken caravans too.
In high season, Chateau Des Ormes is a bustling family site, which wants for little. At the tale end of the season when we went, it is good value, nicely kept and within reach of some of Brittany's best attractions.
