A few miles from the lake which shares its name, Windermere Club Site has many environmentally friendly facilities to match its beautiful surroundings. You may see deer, song thrushes or rabbits by your pitch.

Kendal is close by. It has good restaurants and shopping facilities. It is also home to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the Museum of Lakeland Life and the Kendal Museum. The town of Windermere has the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Lake District Visitor Centre. Windermere is also home to the original, flagship Lakeland Plastics store and factory. The Dale Way long distance footpath is a mile and a half from Site. Follow it into Windermere and take the train back to Staveley station. Coniston lake is very beautiful. The Steam Yacht Gondola leaves from Coniston Pier or Brantwood jetty for a 45-minute tour of the lake. Mountain Goat Tours transport visitors around several routes in the Lake District. Take the car ferry from Bowness to the western Lakes. The Arts and Crafts House at Blackwell has much of its original 1900 interior. Windermere’s Backpacker Facility allows those travelling light to stop off and use amenities, including a clothes drying area, dedicated washing-up and food preparation points as well as a barbecue area. A £10 deposit is required for the barrier key, refunded on return. On site there is a bar serving food and beverages in the evenings (limited opening November to April). Backpacker facility on site.
