Don't miss:
The Traditional arts in Mur de
Bretagne, St. Loup and Guingamp, or Cärhaix’s antique plough festival.
Sound and light show at Bon Repos Abby.
ARWEN Festival in Cléguérec.
Hiking, water skiing (you can sign-up for classes with l’Ecole Nationale de Ski Nautique – the National Water Skiing School), canoeing, skiffs, fishing…
Brittany is best savoured from a plate; seafood, and also a wide array of delicious fish, sweet and savoury pancakes… and don’t forget all the good food from inland.
Less than an hour from the coast, the Bretons have always had their feet on the ground and cut their history in stone. The Celtic culture permeates this legendary region, a wooded and uneven area which is home to the largest lake in Brittany, covering over 400 hectares.
The Doll Museum and the Josselin
Castle, a historical heritage and remarkable architecture.
Pontivy once called Napoléonville, and whose fortress, perched on high, towers over the Blavet.
The Nantes Canal and the Guerlédan Dam.
The Pink Granite Coast at Perros
Guirec: Absolutely not to be missed : the extraordinarily chaotic pink granite rocks on Ploumanac’h Point near the 'Sentier des Douaniers' ('Customs Officers' Trail'). Then, go on superb walks on hiking paths in the Traouïéro Valleys.
The Morbihan Gulf: By boat or by
shore, the Morbihan is astonishing,
with its many islands, its extraordinary landscapes - ever changing with the tides. Almost 150,000 water birds live here: stilts, egrets, garzettes, merganser,
hoopoes…
Carnac Alignment: About 3000 menhirs all in a row, sitting as a testament to the middle Neolithic period, around 3000 BC. Also visit the Kermario Alignment and dolmen, the Kerlescan and Menec alignments, and the St Michel barrow, or tumulus mound.
Choose your region, here everything is beautiful and surprising, strong, iodized and tonic. There is not one Brittany but a multitude of different Brittany countrysides. As for the ocean, it is always present to offer you the unique pleasures of low tide for fishing, high tide for enjoying seafood in a restaurant. When you have had enough of all the delights of the land, there are still magical islands to discover out to sea.
