22 Apr 2010: a&t2010 from North Yorkshire reviewed York Touring Caravan Site

Just spent a lovery weekend at this site, received a nice welcome on arrival and was efficiently booked in. The pitch was huge and flat. The toilet/shower facilities were immaculate, and best of all the showers were powerful and free. The site is very peaceful and we got a great nights sleep. There are some nice walks you can do from the site on the public footpath, past woodland and through farmers fields. Played on the 9 hole golf course which was fun, had to hire clubs for the other half (they looked brand new), but apart from losing a few balls she loved it.

Found that the easiest way into York is to use the Park & Ride which is only 5 mins drive from the site, also don't miss the farm shop just down the road for supplies and treats.

This is a excellent site with quality facilities and plenty of space around each pitch, it is pleasently situated for access to York. The only problem we had was that it is within earshot of the army shooting range and this may be disturbing for some people as it is not very quiet! it started at 8.30am finishing at 6pm with flying drones and air raid sirens! a little bit disconcerting....

response (29 Jun 2009)

The army shooting range which is over 1/2 mile away is used infrequently, no more than a couple of days a month and then only for short periods during the day, usually 30 mins to 1hr.

This was our first visit, and will not be the last. Efficient and friendly reception. Excellent large pitch. Toilets/showers were immaculate.

Our little boy loved the golf range. They have clubs they will lend you.

An ideal site for visiting York.

Practical Caravan Reader Reviews

I have used this site a few times now and it is excellent. The staff are friendly, down to earth and accommodating. The facilities are modern and very clean. York is close by and costs less than a tenner in a taxi. Alternatively, there's a bus stop a 15 minute walk away. Never used the adjacent golf range, but it seems popular and is discounted for campers and they'll lend you clubs etc. Will definitely return17 Oct 2008
